The Cutting Ace is a segment I will do before every WWE PPV where I will talk about, and predict all matches on the PPV Card. This is the first of many, please keep an eye out every month for that months Cutting Ace!
The first match I will be cutting into is the R-Truth vs. Miz rematch. The Miz won the title almost 8 months ago where he had a decent run as champ, even picking up the tag titles to go along with them. In the span of month, he was goldless again.
Last weeks Raw hosted a preview Fatal Four Way match for Truth's US title. After John Morrison hit the starship pain on Truth, Miz threw Morrison out of the ring to pin Truth, and become a 2 time US champion.
At Fatal Four Way, Truth gets his rematch. R-Truth is on a decent push since his draft to Raw, and he has been rose to mid card title status. The Miz has been really impressive, and has proved himself big time since his split from John Morrison. Look for the Miz to retain this one, and then lose it maybe at SummerSlam to one of Raw's young up and comers such as DiBaise, Ryder, Morrison, or Bourne.
The next match is between the "Chosen One" Drew McIntrye and Kofi Kingston. With Kofi's gold on the line.
Over the past couple of weeks, Drew has been a prime time player on the Blue Brand. A note will get him out of anything. So maybe all Drew has to do is bring a note to Kofi saying "You Lose."
All jokes aside, I look for a Teddy Long or Matt Hardy interference in this one. What I am saying is don't expect a clean clear cut finish to this bout. Drew will win and Teddy will restart the match to have Kofi win, or Kofi will win by DQ because of Matt Hardy. Either way, I think this match won't be much to lose sleep over.
So, heres match I don't think people give 2 cents about. But I will review it, and break it down anyways because that's job. For the 4 Way matches, I will just break down each star.
Eve - She's champ? She really hasn't been focused on that much since she was attacked my Maryse. I'm not liking her reign at all to be honest.
Gail Kim - She's nothing but the main diva at the time's partner. Gail, you screwed up by coming back to the dead Diva's division of the WWE. She's probably had a combined hour of ring time since here return.
Maryse - The only Diva on Raw worth something. She has talent for this current age, and she isn't that bad on the mic except for the accent. The only problem is that she IS the divas division on Raw, so she is always champion. The belt is nothing more then a prop.
Alica Fox - She's still around? I haven't seen here do anything notable since she had a title shot like 10 PPV's ago. Really, I don't know why she's even getting a shot at a PPV.
Can't WWE just do SINGLES matches anymore for the Diva's. It's always a tag match or a multi women match now. Anyways, I think Gail Kim is gonna get the title now so WWE can overuse her like they do with every other diva.
So, I am excited for this match. It doesn't matter who wins, we are seeing something new and fresh, unlike the other Main Event.
Jack Swagger - Swagger has lost, and lost, and lost. his only big wins since being champ have been against Edge and Jericho in the Triple Threat, and against Orton at Extreme Rules. If he doesn't win here, Swagger will be nothing but a joke champion,
Rey Mysterio - It's been almost 5 years since Rey last held the World Title. He is one of Smackdown's top stars, and one of WWE's most popular wrestlers today. 2009 Rey really exploded in his feud with Jericho that put both of them back on the map, and now in 2010 he does it again with Punk. Rey Rey is on a roll, and a world title reign may be coming soon.
CM Punk - Punk I think became a big time player this year. He has been a nice feature on Smackdown weekly, and with the SES, he is really evolving his character. The mask is also a nice addition, and could jump start the feud of him and Rey Rey again.
Big Show - The Show got a Main Event push in 2010 now, and he his making the most if it. His new face character is something new, but how long can he be the gentle giant? I think he needs one more World title reign under his belt before he calls it quits....again.
All in all, I think it's anyone's game, but who do I think will win? Rey Mysterio. When was the last WWE had a joking title change? Rey is over due for a world title. Don't let his size be his downfall. The small wrestlers are the best. But yet again, we could very well see a Kane appearance, so who knows?
So heres the other World title Main Event. Raw's 4 Top Dogs for the title.
John Cena - I still don't think any reign will compare to his one in 2007, and that makes these seem pointless. Cena seems to be on the wrong end of the stick with the NXT Invasion, so I don't see him walking out on his own, or with is gold in this one.
Randy Orton - He is "injured" And I wouldn't be surprised if before the match Edge takes him out, and someone takes his place, or it turns into a 3 way. Maybe Wade Barret could have his spot?
Edge - The only one who hasn't been WWE Champion in recent history, and I think he REALLY needs this to jump start him again as a big time heel. Right now he just seems to be floating there.
Sheamus - I wouldn't mind another run as champ from him. His in ring skills are improving, and his mic skills have never been that bad. He is getting over nicely, and now I can see him have a serious run as champ.
In final words of the Cutting Ace, I think Edge will walk out winner, unless Wade Barret weasels himself in, and changes everything. If not for the NXT invasion, I wouldn't really care much about this match at all. Smackdown clearly has the better Main Event this time.
That's it for the Cutting Ace, Fatal Four Way Edition! I hope you enjoyed the read, and look out for next months Money in the Bank Cutting Ace.
