The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series is in Thunder Valley at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, TN for the E3 Spark Plugs Thunder Valley Nationals. Qualifying got underway on Friday with two sessions completed for Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock.

Antron Brown was quickest in Top Fuel Friday running a 3.856 at 314.24 mph in his Matco Tools Dragster, followed by Cory McClenathan who was second at a 3.879 at 313.51 mph. Larry Dixon, last week's winner at Englishtown, was third, followed by Brandon Bernstein and Bob Vandergriff.

Ashley Force Hood in the Castrol Ford Mustang Funny Car went to the top of the charts in Funny Car at Bristol Friday. Force Hood ran a 4.151 at 296.70 mph ahead of Cruz Pedregon, Matt Hagan, Del Worsham, and Jack Beckman.

Mike Edwards seems unbeatable as he topped Pro Stock Friday. Edwards ran a 6.725 at 204.94 mph in his Penhall/Interstate Batteries/K&N GXP. Kurt Johnson was second, followed by Ron Krisher, Alan Johnson, and Johnny Gray. As everyone is trying to catch Mike Edwards, the points championship isn't even in question as Edwards is dominating. Everyone should be happy for the Countdown, because if not it would be over.

Saturday qualifying can be seen along with the final rounds from Englishtown on ESPN2 at 7pm Saturday evening. NHRA Raceday is at 3:30pm ET Sunday on ESPN2 with the Finals at 4pm from Bristol.
