Bellator XXII—The Left Hook From H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks! (With Video)

Jason Schielke@jasonschielkeCorrespondent IJune 18, 2010

Last night at Bellator XXII from the Power and Light District in Kansas City, the script was already written for Jarrod Card.

Beat Jose Vega (5-4) on his home turf and you're in the Bellator season three Bantamweight tournament.

Well, things didn't exactly go as planned.

Just about 30 seconds into the fight, Vega blasted Card with what I called "a left hook from hell" that put Card to sleep and ruined his chances of being in the upcoming Bantamweight tournament.

Not only did Vega put the hometown crowd in a frenzy, but I overheard him speaking to Bjorn Rebney after the post-fight press conference.  There is a chance that we could be seeing him in the tournament in place of Card.

What a perfect time for Vega to score his first ever knockout victory.

Could this be an early candidate for knockout of the year?  See for yourself.
