Just a week ago, it seemed like college football was about to go through drastic changes.

First it was going to be the Pac-16 featuring Texas and Oklahoma.

Then there were rumors that Texas and Oklahoma were going to the Big Ten.

Schools like Baylor were sending out letters to their alumni to call their local congressmen in hopes of saving the Big 12.

Then, nothing...

Well, not nothing. We did get some movement.

Nebraska is now a Big Ten team. Colorado and Utah are now in the Pac-10.

And USC was pretty much given the death penalty.

So now both conferences have twelve teams.

I present to you the best of both conferences, you decide who came out on top with their expansion.

Ohio State Buckeyes Vs...

Jen_maul_big_ten_13_display_image

At the top of the two divisions we used to have the standard bearers, USC and Ohio State, but not anymore.

We'll get to the Trojans later, but we still have the Buckeyes and these wonderful fans.

Ohio State has great recruiting classes every year and challenge for the Rose Bowl annually.

None of that will change with Nebraska on board.

Utah Utes

Utah_display_image

I wouldn't be surprised if Utah comes in and rises to the top of the Pac-10 immediately.

Whether that means the conference will receive more revenue as they were hoping to get by adding the Longhorns remains to be seen.

But they do get a team who has been a consistent winner for the last decade.

And a fresh infusion of coeds.

Penn State Nittany Lions Vs...

Penn_display_image

Every year Penn State challenges for the conference title and that probably won't change even with Nebraska coming on board.

They should come in top two, which is why they are slotted second here.

By the way, this is Melanie and although she isn't sporting any school colors, you'll have to take my word for it that she is a Nittany Lions fan.

Oregon Ducks

Oregon_display_image

Until The Ducks can stay away from the off-field problems, it's going to be tough for them to consistently challenge for the conference title.

But with a never ending supply of cash coming in from Nike, they will always be able to make a big splash. Even if it is because of their uniforms.

And sexy fans.

Wisconsin Badgers Vs...

Badger4_display_image

With 16 starters back from last year's 10-3 team, they might be the strongest team in the conference in 2010.

But forecasting further out than next year is tough. One thing that they do have going for them are the Midwestern girls...

USC Trojans

Cc_uscfans_display_image

With all the talent already on the roster, it will most likely be a few years before the results of all the lost scholarships are felt.

But it will still keep the Trojans from dominating again anytime soon.

Even with two new schools in the conference, USC will remain top three in hot coeds, though.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Vs...

Studiousnebraska_display_image

Within a couple of years, the Huskers will most likely be in the top three of the new Big Ten, with a chance of climbing even higher if they can tap into Big Ten recruiting hot spots.

And their cute coeds will take care of the academics.

Stanford Cardinal

Christen-press-hot-collge-soccer-player_display_image

They have one of the cockiest and controversial coaches in the country in Jim Harbaugh, and he is turning into an excellent recruiter.

But ironically, they are hamstrung by the high standards of the school.

They might want the same talent that Oregon and USC goes after, but can those guys get passed the Cardinal's admissions office?

Iowa Hawkeyes Vs...

Iowa_girls_77_display_image

The Hawkeyes have one of the most respected coaches in the country in Kirk Ferentz and recruit really well in the Midwest where they get most of their players.

They might be the most affected team by Nebraska joining the conference since they will be battling the Huskers for heartland recruits.

Oregon State Beavers

Sarajeanunderwood_display_image

Jacquizz Rodgers and his brother James will be leaving soon for greener pastures, so no one knows if the Beavers will be able to replace them and all the excitement and productivity that they have given OSU during their years there.

If they don't, Oregon State could find themselves returning back to the bottom of the Pac.

They'll always have Sara Jean, though.

Michigan State Spartans Vs...

Michiganstatecheer_display_image

This is SPARTA!!!

Sorry, had to get that out.

The Spartans can make headway in the tough Big Ten if their two best offensive players, Kirk Cousins and Larry Caper can maximize their potential.

If they do, and the defense makes strides, they can get to a nice bowl.

If not, they'll be lucky to find 300 good fans out there.

See what I just did there? Heh?

I'll stop now.

Washington Huskies

Wash_display_image

They have Jake Locker for one more year. Then he'll be off to the NFL as the possible first pick.

They also have running back Chris Polk, but will they be able to build a winning culture once the two new teams come?

That remains to be seen.

Michigan Wolverines Vs...

Kristy_um_display_image

No one is sure where the Wolverines are going.

Their head coach, Rich Rodriguez, is a proven winner and has had some exciting moments in Ann Arbor, but can they win consistently?

Will he be given a chance to do that or is he on his way out?

UCLA Bruins

Elise-ucla-19_display_image

UCLA keeps making strides and then getting in its own way.

With Rick Neuheisel bringing in back to back top recruiting classes, combined with USC's sanctions, the Bruins might actually end the Los Angeles monopoly that the Trojans have had.

But the real question, will their cheerleaders pass the USC song girls as hottest in LA?

Northwestern Wildcats Vs...

North_display_image

The Wildcats have thirteen returning starters and they avoid Ohio State this year.

So the immediate future could be promising.

But the future is up in the air, since they will have a new starter at quarterback.

Colorado Buffaloes

Colorado-buffaloes_display_image

The Buffaloes apparently bring a sought after Denver TV market to the Pac-10, but neither the football team nor the academic reputation will put them in the upper echelon of the conference.

But fans of Colorado know of its storied history, so maybe coming to a new conference could be the fresh start this team needs.

Purdue Boilermakers Vs...

Purdue_arika_1_display_image

Maybe she should play running back since the Boilermakers lost Ralph Bolden to an ACL injury.

But they might be more exciting this year with incoming transfer Robert Marve throwing to star receiver Keith Smith.

Other than that, not much to look forward to.

Arizona Wildcats

Arizonafront2_display_image

Arizona will be in the South Division with Arizona State, UCLA, USC, Colorado, and Utah, so it's going to be tough once the new guys come.

But as for this year they have experience and talent returning in quarterback Nick Foles and running back Nate Grigsby.

So if Coach Stoops is going to make a run, he better do it this year.

Illinois Fighting Illini Vs...

Illinois_display_image

The Illini didn't do much last year and they will probably start a red shirt freshman at QB this year.

If Nathan Scheelhaase leads the offense and gives them someone to build around, maybe in a couple of years...

Califonia Bears

Morgan_webb_display_image

This is another one of those unpredictable teams, because they are laden with upperclassmen at most of their key positions.

Might they make a run for the Pac-10 title this year? Yes.

But what happens after Shane Vereen, Kevin Riley, and Cameron Jordan leave?

We should ask Morgan Webb what she thinks.

Indiana Hoosiers Vs...

Inidian_display_image

Apparently the Hoosiers have two pretty decent wide receivers in Tandon Doss and Damarlo Belcher, but that's about it for the good news.

Bad news is the Hoosiers play all five of the teams that will most likely compete for the conference crown this year.

Maybe next year's recruiting class will be great. Who knows?

Arizona State Sun Devils

Arizonastatefront_display_image

ASU will not compete for the national title this year.

But here is the good news, they have a National Championship-winning head coach in Dennis Erickson and two really good sophomore defensive stars with DT Lawrence Guy and Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, MLB Vontaze Burfict.

And more good news, they have the hottest women in all of the Pac-10.

No one can argue this.

Minnesota Golden Gophers Vs..

Minnesgold_display_image

The Golden Gophers have to rely on good recruiting and unexpected performances by players we don't know for things to turn around.

But how about these flexible Gopher coeds?

Washington State Cougars

Washington-state-cheerleader-1_display_image

Head coach Paul Wulff enters his third year on the job after posting a 3-22 record in his first two seasons.

So it's going to be tough to predict the future for WSU since they probably will have a new coach by the time Colorado and Utah begin their Pac-10 play.

But hopefully for incoming freshman, there will be cheerleaders like this to push them to victory.
