POLL: Retired numbers still a debate

Well, never has a poll been so inconclusive in its results. When asked “Which, if any, current Red Sox player should have their number retired by the team?”, the crowd answered with parody.

  • None
    21% of all votes
  • Tim Wakefield
    21% of all votes
  • Manny Ramirez
    18% of all votes
  • Jason Varitek
    17% of all votes
  • David Ortiz
    16% of all votes
  • Julio Lugo
    5% of all votes
  • Curt Schilling
    1% of all votes
  • Dirk Digler
    1% of all votes
  • Future HOF Ocho Cinco
    1% of all votes

I think it’s fair to say that given the current rules for placement on the right field rafter, none of these players will reach this milestone. In fact, the only one that I think has an outside chance is Manny Ramirez, but only if he finishes his career in a Red Sox uniform which is currently very debatable.

On to the next poll from Fire Brand reader Steven Roth…..

What serves best as Masterson’s nickname? (NOTE: We may turn this into a shirt, so vote wisely)

Get voting to the right…
