Pebble Beach is a beautiful golf course, but it is also a very tough one. If you look at the leader board after round one, you'll notice the power hitters are struggling, and the short distant hitters that are more accurate are on top.

We'll take a look the top five hardest golf courses in the PGA, and then look at where Pebble Beach was ranked in 2009.

That said, the I've lived in Blackfoot, Idaho for 24 years and I still can't figure out that course. Maybe the PGA should come try it?

Royal Birkdale GC (Lancashire)

The Royal Birkdale GC was the home to the British Open in 2008. It was ranked the toughest course in the PGA in 2008. Yes that was two years ago, but go try and play it and tell me it's not tough?

Oakland Hills CC (South)

As an Oakland Raiders fan, I was excited to hear that Oakland Hills CC was the second hardest course in the PGA. Then I realized it's nowhere near Oakland, but in Michigan.

You play in this course, and you might miss more shots than the Raiders have missed with first round draft picks.

Torrey Pines (South Course)

Does the name Torrey Pines not sound like the perfect name for another Tiger Woods Mistress? Well, Tiger loves Torrey Pines as he does a very good job at getting it in the hole.

He's enjoyed many victories there, which is pretty impressive considering it was the third toughest hole in the PGA tour.

TPC Southwind

The fourth hardest golf course on the PGA today could easily be TPC Southwind. When the wind blows on this course, it can make any professional look like Charles Barkley on the golf course.

That's just Turble. It is the only private PGA golf course in the state of Tennessee.

Muirfield Village GC

This golf course was designed by one of the greatest golfers of all time, Jack Nicklaus. For the average sports fan, its not the dude with the sunglasses that's at every Lakers game.

Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead did a fine job at making this course one of the tougest courses in the PGA.

Speaking of the Jack Nicholson dude with the sun glasses at the Lakers game, have you ever notices he has binoculars? What does a guy with courtside seats want with binoculars? Babe Watch?!

Pebble Beach Ranked 21st

Pebble Beach was ranked the 21st hardest golf course in the PGA in 2008. That may sound like it's not very hard, but think again. You may want to ask Phil Mickelson how he likes it.
