With an 8-4 victory over the Cleveland Indians the Mets have secured consecutive road series wins for the first time since 8/29-9/3/2008 (vs. the Marlins and Brewers) and guaranteed themselves a successful road trip in the process (first of 2010).  New York has now won 5 straight road games, and 6 in a row overall.  The team also improved to a major league best 17-6 since May 21 (when they were in last place) and pulled to within 1/2 a game of first place Atlant in the NL East.  Jonathan Niese continued his brilliant run since returning from the DL (3-0 1.56 ERA), allowing 3 ER over 7 solid innings while improving to 4-2 and lowering his ERA to 3.64 along the way.  Niese also helped bring the Mets starter’s ERA to a combined 3.74 (2.91 during this road trip), good for 4th in the National League.
