With WWE Fatal 4-Way only a few nights away, it is now prediction time for the big pay-per-view event, 8 p.m. ET Sunday.
Heading into the inaugural Fatal 4-Way, there are more questions than answers.
On RAW, the NXT graduates, led by Wade Barrett, have been generating a unique buzz that the WWE Universe hasn’t seen in years.
On SmackDown, the intrigue surrounding the attack on The Undertaker has been the main focus.
However, despite these two huge storylines, come Sunday night at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y., it will be all about the WWE gold that will be on the line.
So far, only five matches have been officially signed for the event. All matches are title matches and three are being contested in Fatal 4-Way matches.
I anticipate seeing another match or two being signed the night of the show. One match I see possibly happening is a rematch of this past RAW between Chris Jericho and Evan Bourne. I also wouldn't be surprised to see The Hart Dynasty defend the Unified Tag Team Championship against the Uso’s.
Regardless, the first ever Fatal 4-Way show is filling the void that has been left by The Great American Bash event.
Will Fatal 4-Way achieve the type of history that The Bash did in years past? Only time will tell. For now, I will give you five bold, outside-of-the-box predictions for WWE Fatal 4-Way.
Before I get started, it has been well documented that Massachusetts native John Cena is a huge Boston Celtics fan, and has been pushing for them to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers this year in the NBA Finals. With Game Seven tonight, I believe that this picture is irony personified.
Now, this isn’t the boldest prediction I will ever make, but stay with me here. With the NXT angle in full effect, and John Cena pinpointed in the middle of it, there is no doubt in my mind that he will go on to SummerSlam to take on NXT leader, Wade Barrett.
It would be a great way to really push forward with the biggest angle the WWE has had in years. However, this prediction isn’t about NXT, as I will get to that later.
Through the last few years, we have quite frankly seen enough of Cena versus Edge and Randy Orton.
On the surface, we have only seen Cena take on Sheamus a few times. This leads me to believe that Cena will defend the championship against Sheamus in July at “Money in the Bank” in a one-on-one contest.
This match would settle their feud, and make way for Triple H to come back and build-up his ultimate revenge on Sheamus for SummerSlam in August.
Orton and Edge will continue their feud heading into SummerSlam. Both men will most likely be a part of a Money in the Bank match for a title shot at the July pay-per-view, which will lead to a huge match at SummerSlam with some kind of stipulation.
Cena has always overcome the odds, and hasn’t had a really long title reign in a while. He will once again overcome these odds at Fatal 4-Way.
As seen on SmackDown since the demise of The Undertaker, his brother Kane has been on a warpath for vengeance.
In my mind, it would have made more sense to have him fill the void of The Undertaker’s absence, but I now understand why he did not.
When Teddy Long signed the battle royal to fill the spot that The Undertaker was forced to vacate, it came down to two men. Kane and Rey Mysterio were the final two men in the battle royal, with Mysterio coming out on top.
Mysterio was also the last person The Undertaker wrestled, and was the one who caused The Undertaker’s injury.
In the storyline, however, all signs point to Kane being the culprit. I have said it before and I will say it again. When it comes to the story of The Undertaker and Kane, they have been great brothers, but better enemies.
Kane has buried The Undertaker alive, and lit the casket with The Undertaker inside on fire, and has been one of The Undertakers’ overall greatest opponents.
All signs point to Undertaker vs. Kane in a Casket Match at this year’s SummerSlam.
Kane has been constantly using the casket in some way as a tribute to The Undertaker on each edition of Smackdown. If that’s not foreshadowing, I don’t know what is.
With that being said I believe Kane will involve himself in this match that will either allow Jack Swagger to retain his World Heavyweight Championship, or make it so Mysterio wins because he may be the weak link in this match.
Kane will then go on to face Swagger or Mysterio for the championship at July's Money in the Bank event.
That could be the night where Kane finally becomes a two-time World Champion.
I may get a little heat for this, but I am a really big Maryse fan.
I don't know if it is the thing she does with her hair before every match, or just the fact that she is incredibly sexy, but she has grown on me since the first time I laid eyes on her.
She is getting better in the ring each time she goes out there and from a psychology standpoint; she may be the best in this match.
Alicia Fox really doesn’t have that much going for her. She’s Zack Ryder’s valet one week and the next week she isn’t? I guess that whole “Ashton Kutcher angle” actually meant something.
Gail Kim is unquestionably the best worker in this match. She will do what she can to carry it and probably will do just that.
Still, for some reason, WWE doesn’t seem to be too high on her lately. In TNA, she had one of the most exciting Impact main events I have ever seen against Amazing Kong. If she does not win this match, I can see her going on to feud with Maryse over the title.
Eve Torres has also improved vastly, but after her win on RAW, it leads me to believe that she will lose at Fatal 4-Way.
What has she really done with the championship? It is about time that her feud with Maryse comes to an end, and this would be the perfect match for Maryse to pull an underhanded heel tactic to achieve the victory.
Everyone knows that R-Truth is not a long-term champion in any way, shape, or form. His sole purpose it to wake up the crowd and he will continue to do that—he actually does a really good job of it.
Anyway, The Miz seems to be back on track with his singles push. Whomever came up with this brilliant NXT angle, was able to switch the Daniel Bryan feud away from The Miz. This makes me think that if this angle never went down, Bryan would have never been fired. Oh, well!
The Miz will definitely be a fighting US Champion once again, and will move onto a meaningful singles feud with Evan Bourne.
There is no doubt that Evan Bourne is getting a nice push and after he gets elevated by Chris Jericho, he will be ready for a shot at the US Championship.
Miz and Bourne could put on a hell of a match if given the proper time and build-up. I see these two heading into a big title match at Money in the Bank, or quite possibly SummerSlam.
The Hitman was completely caught off guard by a brutal attack on RAW by the NXT Graduates.
On a side note, I guess vehicular assault is up to standard of the PG rules that WWE always abides by.
Bret Hart has always been a man of honor in the WWE. He once led his own controversial faction that battled the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels.
I believe that at Fatal 4-Way, the NXT Graduates will once again make their presence felt. They could possibly be involved in the RAW WWE Championship Main Event, or could just have a bit of promo time.
The honorable RAW GM, Bret Hart, will ultimately give these men a chance to earn their WWE contracts. I believe the match may take place the next night on RAW, and could be Wade Barrett one on one with John Cena or Randy Orton.
I also believe that we could see a seven on seven contest between the NXT Graduates, and the RAW superstars with contracts on the line.
Either way, I am sure that this NXT angle will be pushed hard at Fatal 4-Way.
