[Author's Note: In Parts 12-14 of my College Football series... I may get a little obsessive-compulsive with "The Importance of Winning AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY."]

Here is a recap of Jimson's Top 10 Standings After Week 11 of the 2008 College Football season.

1. Florida Gators 9-0

2. Missouri Tigers 10-0

3. Texas Tech Red Raiders 10-0

4. Kansas Jayhawks 9-1

5. Utah Utes 10-0

6. Arizona State Sun Devils 8-1

7. USC Trojans 8-1

8. Clemson Tigers 9-0

9. West Virginia Mountaineers 8-1

10. Ohio State Buckeyes 9-1

Now, it's time to move on to Week 12 of the 2008 college football season.

Key Games in Week 12

Texas (8-2) @ Kansas (9-1)

It is SENIOR DAY in Lawrence, Kansas... for the Kansas Jayhawks!

This Big 12 showdown is arguably the game of the week in Week 12.  In fact, BOTH of these teams are ranked in the Top 15 as the No. 14 Texas Longhorns travel to Lawrence to take on the No. 4 Kansas Jayhawks!

Remember what the Kansas Jayhawks did last season, AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY?

On November 17 last season, the Kansas Jayhawks CRUSHED the Iowa State Cyclones 45-7... AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to improve to 11-0.  In addition, Todd Reesing had a Heisman-like performance that day!

Well, I expect Todd Reesing to have another Heisman-like performance in Week 12... as the Kansas Jayhawks defeat the Texas Longhorns, AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, and improve to 10-1 on the season.

Winner: Kansas

Ohio State (9-1) @ Illinois (7-3)

It is SENIOR DAY in Champaign, Illinois... for the Fighting Illini!

Remember the meeting between these two teams last season?

On November 10 last season, the Illinois Fighting Illini went into Columbus, Ohio... and UPSET the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes, 28-21.

Well, after LOSING AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to the Fighting Illini, last season... the No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes are looking for revenge.

Remember what the Illinois Fighting Illini did last season, AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY?

On November 17 last season, the Illinois Fighting Illini defeated Northwestern 41-22... AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to earn a trip to the Rose Bowl Game!

In addition, QB Juice Williams had a Heisman-like performance, completing 15 of 23 passes, throwing for 220 yards and a touchdown, and ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries.

In the end, I expect the Fighting Illini to pull off the UPSET against the Ohio State Buckeyes for the second consecutive year!

Winner: Illinois

New Mexico State (6-3) @ Fresno State (6-3)

It is SENIOR DAY in Fresno, California... for the Fresno State Bulldogs!

Who would have thought that the New Mexico State Aggies would have the same record as the Fresno State Bulldogs heading into this matchup?

Yes, the New Mexico State Aggies are the surprise team in the WAC with a 6-3 record.  However, New Mexico State will face a major test on the road in Week 12, as the Aggies travel to Fresno to take on the 6-3 Fresno State Bulldogs.

In fact, the New Mexico State Aggies are also looking for revenge... after LOSING AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to the Fresno State Bulldogs, 30-23, last season!

Remember what the Fresno State Bulldogs did last season, AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY?

On November 24 last season, the Fresno State Bulldogs defeated the Kansas State Wildcats, 45-29... AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to improve to 7-4 on the season.  In fact, Fresno State also eliminated Kansas State from bowl contention!

In addition, QB Tom Brandstater completed 23 of 29 passes for a career-high 313 yards, and two touchdowns to Marlon Moore.  Moreover, Marlon Moore caught nine passes for 134 yards.

Although New Mexico State has been a pleasant surprise this season, it must also be noted that the Aggies have NOT yet defeated a quality opponent... especially on the road!  Therefore, I expect the Fresno State Bulldogs to defeat the New Mexico State Aggies... AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to improve to 7-3 on the season.

Winner: Fresno State

Jimson's Top 10 Standings After Week 12 of the 2008 College Football season:

1. Florida 10-0 (defeated South Carolina)

2. Missouri 11-0 (defeated @ Iowa State)

3. Kansas 10-1 (defeated Texas)

4. Utah 11-0 (defeated @ San Diego State)

5. Texas Tech 10-0 (bye week)

6. Arizona State 9-1 (defeated Washington State)

7. Clemson 10-0 (defeated Duke)

8. Georgia 9-2 (defeated @ Auburn)

9. West Virginia 8-1 (bye week)

10. Boise State Broncos 10-0 (defeated @ Idaho)

Dropped out: No. 7 USC 8-2 (LOST to @ Stanford), No. 10 Ohio State 9-2 (LOST to @ Illinois)

Stay tuned!  Part 13 of Jimson's 2008 College Football Series will be released on Sunday, July 27, 2008 :)

  1. Jimson you've got Illinois beating Ohio St. Do you think Tressel will be terminated if he loses that one again?

You are completely out of control with this Clemson nonsense. You have them unbeaten and Sou Cal and LSU not even in the Top 10. You're for Kansas, I guess farmers stick together.

West Virginia's new coach was a failure at VMI. Why do you think they'll beat South Florida to the Big East title?

This late in the season, who do you have winning the Heisman at this point? Don't say Reesing.

    1. "Jimson you've got Illinois beating Ohio St. Do you think Tressel will be terminated if he loses that one again?"

NO, I do NOT think that Tressel will be terminated... IF he loses that one again, lolz :)

"You are completely out of control with this Clemson nonsense. You have them unbeaten and Sou Cal and LSU not even in the Top 10. You're for Kansas, I guess farmers stick together."

      What are you talking about???

I am NOT completely out of control with this Clemson thing... Just wait until next week, lol :)

"West Virginia's new coach was a failure at VMI. Why do you think they'll beat South Florida to the Big East title?"

I think that West Virginia will beat South Florida to the Big East title... because West Virginia gets South Florida AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, lolz :)

"This late in the season, who do you have winning the Heisman at this point? Don't say Reesing."

Actually, I have Tim Tebow winning the Heisman, at this point in the season :)

  2. Can these rankings be any more skewed?

USC losing to Stanford last year was a freak, planets aligned accident. You actually believe they will do it again?

I can see how this is going to end up...Kansas winning it all to win (according to you at least) Back-to-Back BCS Championships. My guess is against Utah...seeing as how much you are loving them.

    1. "Can these rankings be any more skewed?"

NO, these rankings are NOT skewed, AT ALL!!!

"USC losing to Stanford last year was a freak, planets aligned accident. You actually believe they will do it again?"

Well, Stanford returns a quarterback (Tavita Pritchard)... who DEFEATED USC (AT USC), in his FIRST EVER START, as a College Football QB, lolz :)

"I can see how this is going to end up...Kansas winning it all to win (according to you at least) Back-to-Back BCS Championships. My guess is against Utah...seeing as how much you are loving them."

Actually, I do NOT have Kansas winning it all... In fact, I do NOT even have Kansas winning the Big 12 North, lolz :)

    2. So you have Stanford beating a highly skilled USC team that is thinking "championship" and looking for revenge.............because of Tavita Pritchard?

      Wow!

    3. "So you have Stanford beating a highly skilled USC team that is thinking "championship" and looking for revenge.............because of Tavita Pritchard?

      Wow!"

Okay Kent, do YOU realize how hard it is... to DEFEAT USC, ON THE ROAD, in YOUR FIRST EVER START, as a College Football QB???

    4. Jimson,

Do you know the probability of winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning or eaten by a shark?

Murphy's Law -- "Anything that can happen, will happen."

So you are saying that if a quarterback leads a team to victory over another team one year, he will continue to do so every year until he graduates?

Just because you win the lottery one day doesn't mean you will continue to win every time you play.

    5. "Jimson,

Do you know the probability of winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning or eaten by a shark?"

YES, I DO KNOW that the probability of winning the lottery, or getting struck by lighting, or eaten by a shark... are very slim, lolz :)

"Murphy's Law -- "Anything that can happen, will happen." "

lol, I'm pretty sure that I've heard this before :)

"So you are saying that if a quarterback leads a team to victory over another team one year, he will continue to do so every year until he graduates?"

All I'm saying is that... It is MUCH EASIER to do it the SECOND time around, than it is the FIRST time around, lolz :)

"Just because you win the lottery one day doesn't mean you will continue to win every time you play."

omg, I know... That is why there are VERY FEW people, who win the lottery TWICE, lolz :)

    6. I think it is even more difficult to beat a team twice in a row. Especially one as good as USC.

      But Hey...good luck to Stanford!

    7. "I think it is even more difficult to beat a team twice in a row. Especially one as good as USC.

      But Hey...good luck to Stanford!"

Well, we'll find who's right, on November 15th... when USC plays AT Stanford! That's why they play the game, lolz :)

Oh, by the way, with this comment, I just achieved a new milestone... This is the 20th comment on this message thread. This is the 13th article I have written, to receive AT LEAST 20 comments :)

    8. Well now I know why you make such ridiculous predictions.

      You want attention.

    9. "Well now I know why you make such ridiculous predictions.

      You want attention."

      What are you talking about???

  3. You remind me of Holtz and his predictions.

    1. Yeah, Holtz is another former Ohio State coach to be made fun of.

    2. "Yeah, Holtz is another former Ohio State coach to be made fun of."

      What are you talking about???

Lou Holtz was NOT a former Ohio State coach... He was a former Notre Dame head coach, lol :)

    3. Holtz was a former assistant coach at OSU in 1968.

    4. "Holtz was a former assistant coach at OSU in 1968."

Well, that was 20 years BEFORE I was born, lolz :)

    5. The stuff Holtz talks about in his latest book concerning OSU and Woody Hayes is hilarious. Everyone should read it.

    6. "The stuff Holtz talks about in his latest book concerning OSU and Woody Hayes is hilarious. Everyone should read it."

Man, I should write a book... about MY OBSESSION with "The Importance of Winning AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY"!!!

  4. BabyTate,

You want a few other names of former coaches at OSU?

    Pete Carroll

    Urban Meyer

    Bo Schembechler

  5. Jimson, for all the good press and reads I give you I am shocked that you didn't know Holtz was a defensive backs coach for the '68 National Champion Buckeyes.

You are still out of control over Clemson. They are fast country boys but how can you compare their sophistication with those teams who contend for the BCS title each season? What about defense? Eating massive amounts of food to regain the heaviest team award they once ruled when the Perry brothers were there is not the answer. A team like Boston College will just pass over them and run away to the goal line. Sprinkling track stars throughout the team is a gimmick to force opponents to defend something they're not going to use anyway. You know what it is, Spiller left, Davis up the middle, Spiller right. Some smart cookie like Paul Johnson or Jim grobe is going to figure that out before Christmas.

    1. "Jimson, for all the good press and reads I give you I am shocked that you didn't know Holtz was a defensive backs coach for the '68 National Champion Buckeyes."

Come on, give me a break... Tommy Bowden was only 13 years old in 1968, lolz :)

I am NOT out of control over Clemson, AT ALL!!!

  6. You're more out of control than ever!

    1. What are you talking about???

  7. Crack is a terrible, terrible thing.

    1. omg, I know... That is why I do NOT smoke crack!!!

  8. lolz, omg I know about Senior DAY :)

Senior Day doesn't mean much when the other team is better.

    1. "lolz, omg I know about Senior DAY :)

Senior Day doesn't mean much when the other team is better."

Stay tuned! You are about to learn about "The Importance of Winning AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY" :)

    2. And I hope that you'll some day learn that if your team can't win it's own division, it didn't win a share of anything.

    3. "And I hope that you'll some day learn that if your team can't win it's own division, it didn't win a share of anything."

      What are you talking about???

The 2007 Kansas Jayhawks DEFINITELY DESERVED a SHARE of the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP... because MY Kansas Jayhawks were the ONLY ONE-loss FBS team, to WIN their (BCS) Bowl Game, lolz :)

Anyway, with this comment, I just achieved a new milestone... This is the 30th comment on this message thread, and this article becomes the 9th of my articles to receive AT LEAST 30 comments :)

  9. GO TROJANZ!

    1. ROCK, CHALK JAYHAWKS!!! GO KU!

  10. Wow!!!

    Undefeated Clemson- #7
    Undefeated Utah- #4

    That makes complete sense.

    1. Actually, I think that the closest thing to a BCS buster, this season... is the Utah Utes. If Utah beats Michigan at their season opener... look for the Utes to run the table :)

Last season, the Utah Utes had injuries to its best qb, best running back, best reciever, and best offensive lineman, as well as other players... and Utah still beat UCLA 44-6. In addition, the Utes made it to a bowl game :)

The Utah Utes just simply played inconsistent, last season. However, if the Utes stay healthy this season, and play motivated... then even the Michigan Wolverines have little chance :)

In fact, I truly believe that Utah is a seriously underrated program, and that most people seem to have forgotten that the Utes were the original BCS busters... and that they easily blew out the Pitt Panthers in the Fiesta Bowl, 4 years ago :)

Since the 2004 College Football season, however... the Utah Utes have struggled through injuries and inconsistent play with a young and sometimes questionable head coach. This season, Brian Johnson will play fully healthy for the first time since he was third in the nation in total offense, in 2005 :)

Along with pretty good recruitments, the Utah Utes look to me like the best non-BCS team in the nation. In fact, Utah was ranked 14th by Phil Steele in his preseason poll [and also in MY preseason poll]... with Fresno not even being ranked. Phil Steele is usually pretty close with his rankings year to year. The Utah Utes are looking pretty good this season :)
