Now, it's time to move on to Week 12 of the 2008 college football season.
Key Games in Week 12
Texas (8-2) @ Kansas (9-1)
It is SENIOR DAY in Lawrence, Kansas... for the Kansas Jayhawks!
This Big 12 showdown is arguably the game of the week in Week 12. In fact, BOTH of these teams are ranked in the Top 15 as the No. 14 Texas Longhorns travel to Lawrence to take on the No. 4 Kansas Jayhawks!
Remember what the Kansas Jayhawks did last season, AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY?
On November 17 last season, the Kansas Jayhawks CRUSHED the Iowa State Cyclones 45-7... AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to improve to 11-0. In addition, Todd Reesing had a Heisman-like performance that day!
Well, I expect Todd Reesing to have another Heisman-like performance in Week 12... as the Kansas Jayhawks defeat the Texas Longhorns, AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, and improve to 10-1 on the season.
Winner: Kansas
Ohio State (9-1) @ Illinois (7-3)
It is SENIOR DAY in Champaign, Illinois... for the Fighting Illini!
Remember the meeting between these two teams last season?
On November 10 last season, the Illinois Fighting Illini went into Columbus, Ohio... and UPSET the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes, 28-21.
Well, after LOSING AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to the Fighting Illini, last season... the No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes are looking for revenge.
Remember what the Illinois Fighting Illini did last season, AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY?
On November 17 last season, the Illinois Fighting Illini defeated Northwestern 41-22... AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to earn a trip to the Rose Bowl Game!
In addition, QB Juice Williams had a Heisman-like performance, completing 15 of 23 passes, throwing for 220 yards and a touchdown, and ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries.
In the end, I expect the Fighting Illini to pull off the UPSET against the Ohio State Buckeyes for the second consecutive year!
Winner: Illinois
New Mexico State (6-3) @ Fresno State (6-3)
It is SENIOR DAY in Fresno, California... for the Fresno State Bulldogs!
Who would have thought that the New Mexico State Aggies would have the same record as the Fresno State Bulldogs heading into this matchup?
Yes, the New Mexico State Aggies are the surprise team in the WAC with a 6-3 record. However, New Mexico State will face a major test on the road in Week 12, as the Aggies travel to Fresno to take on the 6-3 Fresno State Bulldogs.
In fact, the New Mexico State Aggies are also looking for revenge... after LOSING AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to the Fresno State Bulldogs, 30-23, last season!
Remember what the Fresno State Bulldogs did last season, AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY?
On November 24 last season, the Fresno State Bulldogs defeated the Kansas State Wildcats, 45-29... AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to improve to 7-4 on the season. In fact, Fresno State also eliminated Kansas State from bowl contention!
In addition, QB Tom Brandstater completed 23 of 29 passes for a career-high 313 yards, and two touchdowns to Marlon Moore. Moreover, Marlon Moore caught nine passes for 134 yards.
Although New Mexico State has been a pleasant surprise this season, it must also be noted that the Aggies have NOT yet defeated a quality opponent... especially on the road! Therefore, I expect the Fresno State Bulldogs to defeat the New Mexico State Aggies... AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to improve to 7-3 on the season.
Winner: Fresno State
