2010 FIFA World Cup: The Five Mistakes That Shook Up Group C

This past weekend, a few crucial mistakes in Group C led to standings that no one would have expected.

England were favored over USA but had to settle for a draw instead. For the US, taking point away from the Group C’s top seed was about the best they could have hoped for going into the match, since a win was unlikely.

And if there was going to be a draw in Group C, many would have expected it to come from the other match. Although some had tipped Slovenia to win, no one could have foreseen their first-ever World Cup victory coming in the manner in which it did. In fact, Algeria actually played a better game in spite of the final result.

At any rate, here are the five mistakes that shook up Group C.
