The Phoenix Suns organization is now facing a
tough decision whether to re-sign All-star forward
Amar'e Stoudemire or not considering he declared
that he demands a max contract in order for him to stay
in the "Valley Of the Suns".
OK... I know some people won't agree that Amar'e
is worth the max but i think it is the best option for the Suns
right now in order to be a championship contender.
Here are some points that may urge Robert Sarver
and GM Steve Kerr to agree on Stoudemire's demand.
So many things have been said about Amar'e and his low rebounding
performances in the 2010 playoffs and seemingly minimal interest to get to the glass,
but if the big boss Robert Sarver increase his willingness to spend some green for the team, this might motivate the Suns to do better and finally capture the elusive crown.
The Suns run a lot of pick and roll plays during a game as their "Bread and Butter" play
with Steve Nash and Amar'e Stoudemire so if they let him walk away, finding a substitute
wouldn't be easy because Robin Lopez isn't ready yet to step up and take that role for the Suns
because he is more of a player that scores off offensive rebounds and putbacks or sometimes
cutting to the basket from a pass off the double team. I think he needs 2-3 more years to fully unlock his potential and become a 15 points 10 rebounds consistent center for his team.
In the event that Amar'e Stoudemire walks away, Phoenix's cap space would be nowhere near enough to sign a Dirk Nowitzki or a Chris Bosh or a Carlos Boozer that could fill-up the void he will leave behind.
Max contact or not, retaining STAT would only benefit the run and gun, high energy go-go-go approach the Phoenix Suns have.
Do you agree? Do you not? Comment away and let me know.
