Which Houston Texans Could Star in the World Cup?
With the World Cup in full swing, plenty of Texan fans have been tuning in to watch. It's highly debatable which athletes from other sports could be soccer stars for the Red White and Blue, so here's a list of Houston Texans who could have been stars on the pitch.
Andre Johnson: Striker
At 6'3" and over 225 pounds, AJ could use his size and speed inside the box as a striker. With great leaping ability and body control, Andre could play a role similar to that of Jozy Altidore's. Who would have the speed and size to keep Andre from scoring? Not many.
Owen Daniels: Goal Keeper
Owen Daniels has both soft hands and an ability to make plays in traffic. Sounds like a good start for a keeper! Provided OD is back from his knee injury, and his athleticism hasn't diminished, Daniels could mind the net for the Stars and Stripes.
DeMeco Ryans: Sweeper
Demeco Ryans, blessed with size, speed, intensity and leadership, is an ideal sweeper. He can communicate with his fellow defenders and can neutralize opposing attacks inside the box. Ryans' background as a linebacker can help him get a little physical at the back if need be. You know, if, that Wayne Rooney tries anymore shenanigans.
Bernard Pollard: Outside Fullback
Bernard Pollard has the size and speed to play defense effectively against opposing forwards. He has the strength and power to re-direct opponents and speed to change the game from the defensive side of the pitch.
Kevin Walter: Winger
Kevin Walter has the speed to play winger where he must run up and down the field. He is unselfish and can make quality crosses to star striker Andre Johnson.
