In no particular order, I have broken down a list of the top 10 high-flying show-stoppers and lethal deep threats, who provide a coloassal win or loss equation diffence on the field.
So without further ado, here are the top 10 NFL wide receivers in the NFL today.
Andre Johnson
Underrated or under-appreciated?
One year removed from one of his best year's in the NFL, Andre Johnson has turned non-believers into believers.
After a Hall of Fame performance in Week 2 against the Titans, Johnson will continue to rack up huge numbers and hopefully lead Houston to their first playoff berth in team history.
Larry Fitzgerald
After scoring the most touchdowns in his career last season (13), Fitzgerald mounted 97 receptions for 1,092 yards.
It appears the Madden cover never found Fitzgerald.
Now he will be the main target for Matt Leinart or Derek Anderson, and he'll have to produce big numbers this year for Arizona to remain contenders.
Randy Moss
Randy Moss is getting older, but production remains the same.
His ability to break away from young corners still makes him a big-time target.
DeSean Jackson
Will the Donovan McNabb trade take away from DeSean Jackson's production?
We have to wait and see, but that transaction doesn't take away from the spectacular year he had in '09.
Jackson made the Pro Bowl as a punt returner and wide receiver, the first time in history. He's a game changer!
Brandon Marshall
The Miami Dolphins' acquisition of Brandon Marshall added another piece to a dangerous offense.
Considered a "hot head," Marshall's production has been consistent for three years. Over 100 receptions and ten touchdowns in 2009, Marshall looks to silent the critics and prove the trade to Miami was a good investment.
Calvin Johnson
Playing only 14 games, Calvin Johnson is due for a big year with the Lions.
Also recognized as "MegaTron," Johnson is Matthew Stafford's "go-to-guy," or favorite target, and is a difference maker in every game.
Greg Jennings
Greg Jennings is one of the best skilled WR's in the league.
With Aaron Rodgers coming off his first year as a starter, expect big things from the stellar connection.
Jennings didn't have an impressive year statistically, but he was a threat and game changer when he caught the ball.
Steve Smith
Steve Smith had one of his worst years with Carolina in '09.
With an inconsistent quarterback, it was hard to get the ball to Smith, but it doesn't take away from the damage he can do on the football field.
His roar continues to resonate, as he still remains one of the most explosive players in the league.
Reggie Wayne
Reggie Wayne is one the best possession WR's in the NFL today.
Wayne's crisp routes confuse defenders and make it extremely difficult to defend.
He finished the year with 100 receptions and 10 touchdowns in '09. and you can expect more of the same to come this season as well.
Roddy White
Roddy White comes off another consistent year with over 1,000 receiving yards.
White posted a career high 11 touchdowns and made it hard for defenders to keep up with him. Expect another similar year from Matt Ryan's favorite target.
Honorable Mentions
Miles Austin (Cowboys)
Anquan Boldin (Ravens)
Marques Colston (Saints)
Vincent Jackson (Chargers)
Chad Ochocinco (Bengals)
Sidney Rice (Vikings)
