2010 Calder Cup Final Game 5; Bears Win in OT: Lead Series 3-2

Game 5 of the 2010 Calder Cup Finals seemed like a familiar feeling for the Texas Stars. They got out to an early lead and then they gave it up.

Stars forward Aaron Gagnon scored on the power play from Dan Jancevski and Maxime Fortunus to give the Stars a 1-0 lead at 8:03 of the first period while being out shot by the Bears 17-10.

The Bears came back midway through the second period to tie it as Francois Bouchard tallied his fifth goal of the playoffs from Chris Bourque and Keith Aucoin. Hershey scored just as a minor penalty to Stars Francis Wither had ended. The Stars outshot the Bears this time 9-8.

In a game where only five minor penalties were called, the third period was full of intense hockey with each club looking not to make any mistakes and playing tight defensively.

After being replaced on the top line, Alexandre Giroux continued to work hard even if the results were not there. In overtime Giroux scored his fifth career OT game-wining goal at 13:28 of the extra period to give the Bears the win and sweep the three-game Texas trip. Karl Alzner and John Carlson added helpers to Giroux's goal.

Giroux beat Stars goalie Matt Climie with a quick wrist shot for the 2-1 overtime win.

Hershey can win the Calder Cup in Game 6 on Monday, June 14th, 7:00 in Hershey and potentially win back-to-back cups.

Game 6 and Game 7, if needed, are going to be on the NHL Network in both Canada and the United States. Check local listings. XM Radio will continue to follow the action on XM channel 204.

Notes: Kyle Wilson had 9 shots on goal in game 5 and Hershey outshot the Stars 43-36.
