UFC 115 Fight Card: B/R Reports from the Weigh-Ins
UFC 115 in Vancouver, British Columbia is now only hours away.
The posturing, training, and smack talk is over as the fighters did the last mandatory engagement this afternoon before they enter the octagon on Saturday night, the weigh-ins.
All fighters on the card made weight. Although a few had to get buck naked to do so, they did and now their fights are legal and meet the mandatory divisional limits.
No major tension or stare downs for Dana White to break up, and yes, Arianny is that hot in real life.
Take a look at photo's from the weigh-ins today and let's bring on fight night!
Chuck Liddell (205 lbs) vs Rich Franklin (205 lbs)
Former Middleweight Champion Rich "Ace" Franklin took to the scales first in some fetching Ironman underwear.
Former Light-Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell then came to the stage and made weight.
Liddell has been followed everywhere by his girlfriend Heidi Northcott since he's been in Vancouver. Maybe she could really make the difference, we shall soon find out I guess.
Pat Barry (248 lbs) vs Mirko Cro Cop (235 lbs)
The co-main event participants of UFC 115 here in Vancouver both made weight comfortably under the Heavyweight limit of 265 lbs.
Pat Barry has been like a kid in a candy shop all week, let's hope he can put the legend to one side and fight the man come tomorrow night.
Cro Cop had easily one of the biggest cheers of the night. The Croatian still seems to have the global support despite his recent form.
Rory MacDonald (170 lbs) vs Carlos Condit (170 lbs)
Local favorite, Rory "The Waterboy" MacDonald got a huge reaction from the crowd and from my seat it was the first time that I have seen any sign of nerves from the Canadian this week.
The former WEC Champ, Condit made weight comfortably and the stand off showed that his reach advantage could be a factor in this fight.
Ben Rothwell (264 lbs) vs Gilbert Yvel (243 lbs)
Big Ben Rothwell came in just under the Heavyweight limit at 264 lbs.
Gilbert Yvel got a big pop from the crowd and gave Rothwell easily the meanest stare down of the night.
Paulo Thiago (170 lbs) vs Martin Kampmann (170 lbs)
It was a surprise to me to find out that this fight will open the PPV tomorrow night in Vancouver.
One of only two fights on the card with any real divisional significance was made official as both fighters made weight.
Tyson Griffin (154 lbs) vs Evan Dunham (155 lbs)
The two Xtreme Couture fighters should be given great credit for taking this fight, proving that teammates can fight each other.
In the other fight on the card with title implications, both made weight for their clash and this could very well be the Fight of the Night.
Mac Danzig (156 lbs) vs Matt Wiman (156 lbs)
Both these fighters missed weight on the first try.
Danzig weighed in 157lbs before getting naked behind the towel to make the weight.
Wiman also required the towel to make the weight.
Going by the stare down this one is going to be a great fight to view on Spike for free.
Mario Miranda (186 lbs) vs David Loiseau (185 lbs)
The second Canadian that will appear on the UFC 115 in Vancouver is MMA legend Loiseau. He got a big cheer from the crowd and will definitely be the favorite heading into the fight.
Miranda weighed 187lbs at the first attempt but then made the weight. He got a big cheer from the ladies based on a certain part of his anatomy!
Rest of the Card
The rest of the card all made weight with very little of note to report.
James Wilks (170 lbs) vs Peter Sobotta (171 lbs)
Claude Patrick (170 lbs) vs Ricardo Funch (170 lbs)
Jesse Lennos (170 lbs) vs Mike Pyle (170 lbs)
