Top 10 MMA Fights in June Worth the Price of Admission
The MMA powers have blessed the fans with a jam-packed month of action again.
Starting this Saturday (June 12), fans will get event after event, including two UFC, one WEC, and two Strikeforce shows packed into a 14-day period. Not to mention the weekly Bellator shows and numerous smaller promotions with shows this month.
With so many fights happening in such a short period of time, fans might have to pick and choose what they can and cannot afford to watch.
Money is tight everywhere, so to help out, here is a list of the top 10 fights this month worth the price of admission.
10. Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Jan Finney (Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum)
She might be fighting a no-name with an average record (8-7), but Santos is a monster destroying everything in front of her. Every time Santos fights, it is pure entertainment. Let’s hope that Finney has a great dental plan.
9. Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald (UFC 115: Liddell vs. Franklin)
The once-WEC welterweight champ Condit is only 1-1 since coming over to the UFC, and both were close split decisions, but very entertaining. MacDonald is the undefeated rising star and former KOTC lightweight champ.
No judges need to be here, too, as between the two they have had 39 fights and only three went the distance. Need I say more?
8. Chris Leben vs. Aaron Simpson (TUF 11 Finale)
Not much needs to be said here other than the fact that these two will bang, so buckle up and enjoy.
7. Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos vs. Marius Zaromskis (Strikeforce: LA)
If this fight gets out of the first round, it will be a bonus for the fans. Santos is a kill or be killed type fighter, and Zaromskis has 11 career knockouts mostly by way of his legs. FIREWORKS!
6. Tim Kennedy vs. Trevor Prangley (Strikeforce: LA)
With Jake Shields all but gone from Strikeforce, the middleweight division needs some new talent. These two Challengers series fighters will be taking the step up to the big leagues looking to impress.
5. Robbie Lawler vs. Renato “Babalu” Sobral (Strikeforce: LA)
Before this fight had title ramifications, it might have been either lower or not even on the list. With the victor now likely getting a title shot in his respective division, there is a lot riding on this fight.
4. Martin Kampmann vs. Paulo Thiago (UFC 115: Liddell vs. Franklin)
These two may not be household names or a flashy fight, but you have two top-10 ranked welterweights fighting each other.
3. Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin (UFC 115: Liddell vs. Franklin)
Originally supposed to be Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz, but we all know what would have happened next.
Liddell and Franklin are two of the most popular fighters in the UFC, and both are former champs. How could you not want to see this fight?
2. Court McGee vs. Kris McCray (TUF 11 Finale)
Only a handful of fighters can actually call themselves The Ultimate Fighter winners. Both fighters got a second chance on the show and made good use of it. Time to crown a new fighter the TUF winner.
1. Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabricio Werdum (Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum)
The practically unbeaten Fedor is always a must see, but match him up with another top-10 heavyweight and you have the top fight of June.
