Cubs fans can only hope that the return of Alfonso Soriano to the lineup will help their anemic offense turn things around and avoid a sweep against the Diamondbacks.

Soriano returned to the lineup tonight in Arizona after missing exactly six weeks with a broken hand.

Soriano is hitting .283 with 15 homers in 51 games this season.

The Cubs also activated left handed reliever Scott Eyre from the disabled list today sending Kevin Hart and Micah Hoffpauir back to Triple-A Iowa.

The Cubs are still without closer Kerry Wood because of a blister on his throwing hand.

Wood threw out of the bullpen Wednesday, but could only throw changeups and will go to see a hand specialist Thursday.

The Cubs look to end their two game losing streak Wednesday and avoid the sweep before heading home to take on the Florida Marlins.
