Conference Realignment: Colorado Buffalo Football Joins the Pac 10

Matt WagnerCorrespondent IIJune 10, 2010

The building of a "super conference" has begun. Colorado has accepted an invitation to join the Pac 10 conference.

It looks like Texas and Texas Tech are going to accept invitations as well.

If the Pac 10 becomes the Pac 16, a super conference will be formed between the elite football programs in the country.

This is the final blow to the Big 12 conference. The Big 12, despite their efforts, will not be able to rebound from this. In addition, if both the Texas schools accept their invitations, that would be the biggest blow to the conference because they would lose two of the elite programs in their now defunct conference.

This is yet another conference shift in college football, as Nebraska will move from the Big 12 to the Big 10 conference.

The Colorado move will not officially play for the Pac 10 unless a deal is worked out to get them to play in the conference sooner.
