The French website Fightsport.fr revealed that Fedor Emelianenko's next opponent will be Belarusian fighter Andrei Arlovski.

The source: Fedor himself.

Emelianenko said that he wants to get back in the ring as soon as possible against the best heavyweights in the world and make up the lost time that he spent this year.

Fedor confirmed that he would be fighting in Japan on New Year's Eve, possibly against Mirko Cro Cop.

The next Affliction event is slated to be held in November, but Fedor is pushing for an October date against Arlovski, so that he can better prepare for his December match in the land of the rising sun.

The Russian legend also stated his wish of fighting Josh Barnett in March in America.

  1. How interesting. This is a lot to look forward to. No wonder he dispatched Sylvia so soon; he needs to conserve his strength to keep all these other fight dates.

    1. Yup. I've been waiting a long time to see Fedor fight Arlovski. Let's see if the "Pitbull" lasts longer than 36 seconds :)

  2. If it happens I'm a hapy boy. But I think if it does and soon it show that Affliction may not be planning to be around for a long time. During press conferences and interviews when talking about plans Tom has talked about two or three shows. Fedor destroys Sylvia, Fedor gets AA, Fedor fights Couture, then Affliction calls it a day?

    1. Yeah, Affliction has said that they only plan on holding three shows, maybe four. They would not be able to sustain the payouts otherwise. Still, we get to see most of the fights that we wanted, so I can't complain.

    2. if they start seeing more success and build on the numbers they did with the first show, don't bet on them quitting after 3 or 4 shows. thats just his out if they flop quickly. I cannot possibly see trump getting involved in a promotion which would only run 3 or 4 shows and never get out of the red. trust me their plan is to stick around, they are just prepared to go away if neccessary.

  3. Yeah, I hope you're right Bryan. I can't wait to see Fedor fight all these guys, plus the other great match-ups that Affliction can offer. I think that competition between promotions is good for the sport, because it forces everyone to step their game up (eg. UFC holding a card on July 19, which we would not have seen if it wasn't for Affliction).

  4. Fedor v. Arlovski would be a dream match out of many possible dream matches. Fedor is the best Heavyweight fighter in MMA and he wants to chase the big dogs and has done already so let him off his lease and lets see what he can do.

  5. I'm voting for the Russian guy.

    1. Technically, Arlovski is Belarusian, so it looks like you're rooting for Fedor :)

    2. I stand corrected. Thank you. I actually had to look that up. Belarus was actually apart of the Soviet Union until 1990 and yes, Arlovski was born in Byelorussian SSR in 1979. Now known as Belarus.

  6. ..my info in my article has an oct 12/sin city las vegas date...reported by mma mania.com..anybody who can confirm this please feel free to correct me or confirm...thanks /stoker dafire

  7. I can't freaking wait for this fight. I expect a war but I know there's a chance either guy could end it in the 1st round.

  8. Arlovski has the footwork and overall athleticism to make this an interesting fight!!!!
