The Boston Bruins have placed veteran forward Glen Murray on waivers.
The 35-year-old Murray, who has one-year remaining on his contract at $4.15 million, had 17 goals and 13 assists in last season's injury plagued campaign that saw him play only 63 games.
The two-time All-Star missed 19 games with a hip flexor and struggled through his least productive season in a decade.
The Bruins do have several options for the veteran forward.
According to the team, Murray can be traded or bought out, or they may simply hold on to him if he clears waivers.
In 1009 career games, the Halifax native has 337 goals and 314 assists.

There is no way Murray stays. With Wideman's extension done, the Bruins are over the cap and need to cut salary. If Murray clears waivers he will most likely be bought out. If for some reason he doesn't, they have a chance to agree to a trade with the team that claims him. They could also send him down to Providence, but that doesn't make much sense either.

Yeah everything has pointed to Murray getting bought out for a while now. It's bitter sweet really. As a long time Bruins hardcore fan, I remember Murray in his good times (not so long ago), and it would've been nice to see him finish out his contract with dignity. This is a capped system in all it's glory though, so you kick a dog when he's down, turn your back on him and walk away.
