Last night we got to see all 8 men nWo style, beat on John Cena to the point that even a "rookie" Kaval suggested Cena might need help.
Cena got through Khali, the late Umaga, Big Show, JBL, Randy Orton, Triple H etc. and no one has ever laid out Cena to the point that someone has actually brought up the fact that he might need help.
Legit much? Maybe, still to soon to tell if the boys from NXT are for real in the long haul, but here's how their involvement in the nWo style N (or nXt) stable might go.
Heath Slater: He's a rock star with out the mic.....and the charisma. But what he does offer up is the ability to be the one guy that the rest of the NXT season 1 gang despises. Christian was his mentor and after the brutal assault on Cena, that's going to cause Christian to reach out to his former NXT rookie.
End Result: First to be dropped from the group. A successful face turn balances on if he can or can't get over after he gets attacked.
Michael Tarver: In his quest to be accepted by not only his NXT brethren but by the WWE management that he'll start going through opponent after opponent til he finally earns respect.
End Result: Tarver is going to try and knock out as many people as possible, leading into a possible KO match with Big Show. Will this make or break his career? He's a bigger guy so he has a shot to be a legit threat. Only time will tell how it pans out.
Darren Young: He may seem like he could be a legit threat but he has a goofy look for a reason. He's the bumbling henchman, the can't do nothing right and for you South Park fan's, he's basically Mimzy. If Slater gets tossed out due to his closeness with Christian, Young will get thrown out because he won't be able to do anything right.
End Result: He'll be thrown out at one point for causing Wade Barrett or someone a title or something along those lines, but will continually try and get back in the favor of the group. Of all the guys, he might be the first one to jump to the real heel stable over on Smackdown and finally take the pledge.
Justin Gabriel: This kid right here is going to be constantly picked on and put down to his size. This will lead him to do everything in his power to win a match and win at any costs; even at the cost of his own health. Eventually if all goes well, he'll go toe to toe with Bourne, Rey and other high fliers ultimately leading to him being the only one to turn his back on nXt after seeing men like him fighting the odds
End Result: Gabriel at first will go toe to toe with guys like Bourne, Rey and even some more bigger names like Regal, Christian and even NXT 2 member Kaval. Gabriel will be in turn for a big face push after he decides to save Rey Mysterio and Evan Bourne from major beat downs.
Skip Sheffield aka Ryback: As a cowboy he'll never succeed. But as Sheffield with a little bit of his old OVW/FCW character Ryback, he's gonna be just fine. With Batista gone, the WWE needs someone who can beat the "can HURT you at any time" threat that Batista was. He's got all the ability in the world to brawl and destroy people.
End Result: When Season 1 takes on Season 2 at Survivor Series or SummerSlam or whenever, he'll be the one that a majority of guys fear due to his dangerous attitude. He'll be with the group for the duration of the group.
David Otunga: He's gonna be the guy that causes a majority of the disgruntled attitude in the group. He's gonna use his wife's star power to boast his own standing in the company leading to the others to think that he doesn't have what it takes physically to compete. He'll even leave a few of his teammates high and dry.
End Result: When the group goes toe to toe with the top for Season 2 NXT rookies, Otunga will join Sheffield and Tarver in the match. He'll be a constant pain in the ass to the group but Barrett will see his standing in the entertainment world as to good of an opportunity to pass up.
Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson: The clear favorite to win the competition, he'll align himself with Barrett due to the fact that he was never voted out, nor did he loose his spot wrestling wise. He was forced out due to management, making him an ideal and loyal candidate for the NXT boys.
End Result: He'll be loyal to the cause til the end, but to the group that might be up for debate. The one things that for sure is that he'll constantly put people in their place, both in nXt and out. Barrett will eventually tap out to him during their lone conflict but when Barrett realizes that Bryan's not a threat to his leadership spot, he'll forgive him and let bygones be bygones, just as long as Bryan does everything to harm the main stars as possible. Bryan will be the reason why Cena looses his title and will even get a victory over Cena by aggressively beating on him with submission holds. He'll be the lone member of the group to not face off with NXT Season 2 boys, as he'll be facing off with either NXT season 2 winner or John Cena.
Wade Barrett: He did win the competition, but the guys who "serve" under him are going to be a little disgruntled at first, due to the pro's voting him the winner. Over time he'll show off his talents and put the claims to bed, but the underlining abilities debate between him and Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson will be the underlining tone of the group for a little while.
End Result: Barrett will captain team nXt in a major 4 man (or more) fight against the winner and the crew of NXT season 2. Barrett though for a majority of his leadership role will be either the I.C. champ or U.S. champ. He'll do this after pushing Swagger or Cena (or whoever) to the brink thanks to the help of Tarver and Sheffield, but will fall short when Young costs Barrett the win, in return to his performance he'll challenge and defeat the middle card champion and win the belt clean.
The challengers will be a steady combination of former pros and NXT Season 2 wrestlers, and i'll break them down next time!
