Bayern Munich are reportedly in the hunt for Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez.
The Germany international could not live up to his potential with his national team and was a complete failure at the Euro 2008.
"There is a clause in his contract which gives us the possibility to bring him here, possibly within the next year," said Bayern Munich's chairman of the board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Defending German champions Bayern already have strikers Lukas Podoliski, Luca Toni, and Miroslav Klose on their roster.
Mario Gomez was chosen as Germany's Player of the Year in 2007.

Mario is a great Bundesliga striker, he's been up at the top for the last 2 seasons. While its just the kind of player that Bayern Munich goes after, it just is obscene for them to even try. I'm a Bundesliga fan and everything Bayern does just makes me sick. All the best players to be developed by German teams get snapped up by the Munich giants. Podolski from Nuremburg, Altintop from Schalke, Borowski from Werder Bremen, Ballack from Bayer Leverkeusen, the list goes on. I understand building a world class side, but all they serve to do is cripple most other Bundesliga's sides chances in European competitions.
