I'm sure everyone is tired of the whole Brett Favre "Am I retired?" saga. I know that I am.
Brett, and the Packers, who were unfortunately thrust into this position, now must make the decision of whether to keep Brett as a backup to his former understudy Aaron Rodgers or let their icon move elsewhere.
When it was first announced that Favre would make his retirement official, I was a bit skeptical. We are talking about a guy who left the Packers wondering after each season as to whether or not he would return to camp in late summer.
Then I saw the retirement speech: the tears, the choking, and the look on the old gunslinger's face.
It took me a few minutes to take it all in. After all, Brett was the last of the quarterbacks I grew up watching that was still taking snaps under center, and it hurt to see him go.
But the speech was believable, and I finally believed that Mr. Favre was all done.
Thanks to a text message from Brett, hinting that he would like to return, here I am in late July, tallying a list of teams that would benefit from a year or two of Favre.
1. Chicago Bears
I'm not sure which fans, the Packer or Bears' faithful, hate to see Chicago at the top of the list more. After all, seeing Favre in Lambeau, wearing Navy and Orange would devastate the state of Wisconsin. And Chicago fans grew up hating No. 4, so would they ever welcome the man?
- B/R Ticket Guide
The Bears' options this year at quarterback are bad and worse, Grossman and Orton, respectively. While they still have questions about who will be running the ball this season, Favre would make this defensive-minded team immediately legitimate in the NFC North.
2. Miami Dolphins
This pick at No. 2 might surprise a few people, but it could really work well for both the Packers and Favre. Seeing Brett go to an AFC East team couldn't be all that bad, and the situation should be inviting for Brett.
While he wouldn't be playing for a contender, there is no question that Brett would win the starting role. This move could help the Dolphins in the long run, giving them time to develop the likes of 2008 draft pick Chad Henne.
I'm sure Henne wouldn't mind developing his game as an understudy from one of the game's all-time greats.
3. Atlanta Falcons
I know, I know, the Falcons do have Matt Ryan, and they apparently feel that he's worth the money—just take a look at his contract, one that tops Tom Brady's and Peyton Manning's.
You know what I say to that?
BIG DEAL.
Ryan is in no way ready to lead a team in turmoil. Matt put up decent numbers in his career in a mediocre ACC. Somehow those numbers were deserving of the highest-paying contract for an NFL quarterback, one who has yet to take a snap, mind you.
Brett going to Atlanta would give him a chance to move closer to his family and win the starting job without question. Maybe seeing Brett play for the Falcons, the team he got his start with, would be easier to swallow for the Chesseheads.
4. Oakland Raiders
So, Raider Nation believes JaMarcus Russell is the quarterback of the future, and I agree. But, in my honest opinion, Russell isn't ready to lead an NFL team. In other words, the future isn't here yet for JaMarcus. The Raiders could run some interesting offensive schemes this season with the addition of Darren McFadden and Favre could give Russell the time he needs to develop.
So there it is, Mr. Favre. I say go "4" it.

Why even list the bears? Its probably more than impossilbe for that situation to play out. I believe the packers have already said they woudlnt trade to someone in the North Division, and if they traded to anyone, there would be stipulations so that Favre couldnt ever play for a team in the NFC North besides the pack.
that said, there is no doubt favre would make a huge difference in chicago, its just not going to happen. Then again, Strahan could come out of retirement and make a difference at QB for the Bears... :-/

Favre wants to play for a contender. Not a team with no weapons (the Bears), or a team who just traded away their best player and have no offense besides a mediocre 3rd year RB (the Dolphins), or as you put it, the team in turmoil (the Falcons). This is a horrible list. The list should look like this:
1) Vikings
2) Chiefs
3) Buccaneers

Theres no doubt in my mind he wants to play for a contender but what contending teams dont already have a legit QB? The list makes a lot of sense. The Bears dont have a lot of weapons but theyre a defensive teams and win games without a lot of offensive output. The Bucs arent a contender and the Vikings believe theyre set with TJ at QB.

best bet would be bears

I really have trouble seeing the Packers trading Favre to their bitter division rival.
Favre will be heading to an AFC team, most likely KC. They face Tampa Bay this season so that wouldn't be a smart move and the Vikings are in their division.
The Falcons are committed to Matt Ryan and the Raiders are to Jamarcus. Russell has shown some flashes of what he can do and the Raiders are being built into a soon-to-be contender. No rebuilding teams like Atlanta and Oakland will deal off draft picks for Favre, especially if he only sticks around for a year.

The list isn't a bad one but I do agree that the packers would not trade to chicago because of the obvious point that they are in their division. But there is no doubt he would make an impact especially because of all the weapons chicago has. Vikings is the same situation especially now with this drama highly unlikely. Atlanta, now there is a very interesting choice but i doubt that one as well. Now if Favre really wanted true test I say he would go to either Miami / Buffalo / Jets to contend against Brady... That would be quite an interesting season ...

I think we will see Favre with either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by the time the season starts.
There is talk about him going to Chicago or Minnesota, but most likely the Packers won't trade him to a rival team in the division.
There is also talk about him going to Atlanta, or Miami, but Brett would most likely like to play his last year or two with a contender.
And Oakland, I think they'll just go ahead and put JaMarcus Russell in as their starting QB, considering how much potential he has to be good.
KC and Tampa don't have the greatest QB's but they are contenders, so I think that Favre would like playing in one of these cities, and I'm sure that they would welcome him.

Kc and Tampa could work I just think KC is gonna go with what theyve got. I was real close to adding Tampa to the list

I believe that's just the tip of the ice berg, what about the 49ers, Ravens, Chiefs, Jets, Vikings, Bucs. Not to mention the teams you did. I have to disagree about the raiders, it's not that favre couldn't help them, it's more of a case where the raiders are paying Russell so much money, they wouldn't be able to afford Favre, because i am sure he will want a boat load of money. Besides Russell is already a year behind in his 6 year contract, one more of riding the bench for that kind of money would be a waste. I believe same go's for matt Ryan. Team most likely to land favre, the Bucs, Chiefs and Ravens. I would put the dolphins in there but i don't think even favre could help that team. the team he may be able to lead to a super bowl, the Vikings. One more team i should mention is the Panthers, could you imagine Favre and Steve smith hooking up, Yahoo.

Favre and S.Smith would be quite the combo
