There are many pretty good tag teams in wrestling today. However, it's tough to say at this time whether they should be mentioned along with great teams of the past. A lot of tag teams end up spliting or just fade away. Lets take a look at some current tag teams in wrestling and see who could end up being mentioned among great tag teams of the past like The Road Warriors or The Hart Foundation.
The Briscoes are one of the better tag teams out there today. It's tough to say if they will eventually belong among greats. One thing working against them is The Briscos, Gerald and Jack Brisco, who were a tag team for decades throughout the 70's and 80's becoming very successful with over 20 tag team championship reigns. Another being The Briscoes have never been in the WWE. While you don't have to be in the WWE to be a great tag team, The fact that The Briscoes might not be able to use there tag team name in WWE due to the Hall Of Famer's Jack and Gerald, works against them. Most of, if not all of there tag team success might not be recognized in WWE, but at the same time, there success might not be remembered if they never compete in WWE.
These guys are one of the best tag teams out there. If they can stick together and continue to put the team first over the next 7-10 years , they could end up as one of the better tag teams of all time. However, does being in TNA hurt them or reward them? I say both. It's good for them since WWE is as PG as the Power Rangers movie and most likely would not allow their antics. It hurts them however since WWE would give them mainstream attention being on TV every week on that big stage. Especially Wrestlemania. Will they go down as one of the great tag teams of all time? Only time will tell.
The Hart Dynasty puzzle me. They remind me more of The British Bulldogs than The Hart Foundation. I feel there is not really an actual "Hart" connection in the group besides Tyson Kidd being trained a little by Bret Hart. None in the group are that good on the mic, I feel there is to much big man coming in to save the little man at times, and Natalya has not wrestled much at all. The group do have pretty good chemistry though. I am a fan of the group but at this time I don't see them becoming as good a The British Bulldogs or The Hart Foundation when you compare the three.
These guys have The Rockers written all over them. Many people debate that the Bucks are more athletic than The Rockers were, and say they are not as athletic as The Hardy Boyz. The two are still very young in their early 20's and I feel that they could become better than The Rockers, but I'm not sure about The Hardys. I scratch my head at the fact that WWE puts The Dudebusters on TV but did not sign The Young Bucks. The Young Bucks seem to be better workers and more athletic in my eyes. The Bucks may have more experience too. They are not smaller than Croft and Barretta and they have the same body types aside from Barretta who has a better body out of the 4. Will these two go down as one of the great teams? I am not sure. What do you think?
These guys are special. They have fantastic tag team chemistry and love teaming together. They both can talk and they both sure as hell can work. They are for sure one of the better teams out there. Both Sabin and Shelley are super athletic and super quick. They work at a very quick pace yet they still perform crisp double team moves. In my mind these guys are already way better than The Rockers and are a way better tag team than someone like The Blackjacks. However, there athletic ability won't be around forever. If they are still a tag team down the line, how do they adapt to that? Will they go down as one of the great tag teams? Who knows.
I don't think these guys will become one of the greats, but they are very good. I just don't think these guys stick together as they have already went there seperate ways at the moment. Eddie Edwards has the ROH TV Title and Davey Richards is going after the ROH Championship. Even if they had stuck together, I'm not sure they would ever reach the heights of some of the great tag teams of all time. Richards is one of the best wrestlers around today and may be the best wrestler to not be in TNA or WWE at this time. Maybe the two will reunite but if not, they will most likely continue to have each others back.
I just don't see the big deal with these guys? They don't really do anything that stands out besides Croft pumping his hands in the air. Moving On.
I'm not sure about CM Punk but I think a Straight Edge Society team of Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury could be very nice. Who knows how long they would stay together but Mercury is only in his early 30's, seems to be liked by Vince McMahon, and is now living a clean life beating is drug problems thanks to McMahon. I think Mercury could have the best work of his career very soon. Meanwhile Gallows is in his mid 20's and seems to be at the best point of his career so far. There is some nice potential on paper for a team of Mercury and Gallows.
New tag team. Jesse Neal's career has just started while Shannon Moore has been around quite a while. Moore is still just 30 years old while Neal is 31 so both are in there 30's. I doubt they stick around but the team has not be all that bad since they were put together. Neal still needs some work but has already shown some improvement. Again. It seems doubtful they will stick together but there is some potential.
Not much is known about these two right now. They are both very young and need a lot of work. They were not exactly terrible on the mic this past Raw, but were not fantastic either. With these two you just think Wild Samoans. With that said there is potential to be as good as The Wild Samoans since the two are very young and seem to be athletic. With a lot of work who knows what could happen with these two.
If I missed anyone I'm sorry and let me know. Comment your thoughts on who you think could become one of the greats. Check Out my other Articles. Thank You.
