Top 10 Quarterbacks Going Into the 2010 Season
The Quarterback position is the most important position on the field. He makes all the calls on offense and provides support for the other positions.
Here is my opinion on the top 10 QBs going into next season:
10. Joe Flacco
I know many might not agree with me here but he had an okay season last year. But remember, the receivers he had around him last year were horrible.
His only target was Derrick Mason who is not a legit No. 1 receiver, and when he wasn't open, he would just dump it off to Ray Rice.
But on the positive he has a very strong arm and can make pretty good reads. With the addition to Anquan Boldin and Donte Stallworth to his receiving corps along with Mason, look for him to have a major improvement in his game and his numbers next year.
9. Carson Palmer
Carson Palmer has always put up good numbers and has been very consistent throughout his career. Last year, he threw for 3,094 yards which isn't particularly a lot for a QB these days.
Palmer is a very underrated QB and his abilities to throw the ball under pressure in the pocket is very good.
He has good talent around him like Chad Johnson and Laveraneus Coles. Last year the Bengals were very good because of Palmer and their ability to throw along with their running game with Benson.
Look for Palmer to continue his great career. Hopefully he can break out of his playoff slump now.
8. Matt Schaub
Matt Schaub is a very good fitting QB in Houston. His numbers were absolutely outstanding last year with 4,770 passing yards and a 98.6 QB rating.
He has developing talent around him, and he also already has a superstar to throw to. With Andre Johnson as a target for him, his numbers will always be climbing.
He has a great arm and has the great ability to thread the needle between good defenders.
7. Tony Romo
Tony Romo is a very good quarterback even though he and his Cowboys just crap the bed when come playoff time. Romo had good numbers last year with 4483 passing yards and a 97.6 QB rating.
With Miles Austin and Roy Williams as his two top targets along with the Pro Bowler Jason Witten, he has the ability to be the best QB in his division.
He is in my eyes spoiled to have talent that he is going to have next year around him with Ausin, Witten, Williams and newly added Dez Bryant. If he can continue to be consistent for his team, he is very dangerous.
6. Donovan McNabb
McNabb has had a marvelous career in Philadelphia and now I see him continuing it in Washington and providing a spark for their team. McNabb seems to make the talent around him get better.
In Philadelphia, he has never really had great receivers. He still has a cannon for an arm and I feel that if he can stay healthy, he will surprise many people in the NFC East.
I feel that he will be the best QB next year in the NFC East. You think I'm crazy but watch!
5. Tom Brady
Tom Brady is without question a first ballot hall of famer and has had a fantastic career in New England. Last year though, he wasnt the same Tom Brady that we are used to seeing. Yes he had great numbers, but not Tom Brady numbers. But I still see him as up there with the other greats going into next simply because of Wes Welker and him still having Randy Moss. He has a great arm as he always had and will continue to give the Patriots a run for the Super Bowl, like he as done every year that he has been there.
4. Philip Rivers
Philip Rivers had a great season last year for the Chargers. He had 4254 yards passing with a 104.4 QB rating. He continues to put up great numbers every year that he is in the league and has the ability to make a bad play into something good. He is one of the best at throwing between defenders. He will continue to be the best Quarterback in his division. Look for him to continue to be up there with all the other greats next year.
3. Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers has had a great career in Green Bay filling in for Brett Favre. He had great numbers last year with 4328 yards passing and a 100.8 QB rating. Look for him to continue to be great.
2. Drew Brees
Drew Brees is the superbowl winning QB of 2009. This guy has had a great career in New Orleans and is hands down their number 1 leader. He also was a great QB and leader for San Diego under Marty Schotenheimer. Drew Brees had 4388 yards passing with a 109.6 QB rating. He has great talent around him and he will continue to be great.
1. Peyton Manning
This man in my opinion is the greatest QB to ever play the game. Hands Down enough said. Hes a football God for Quarterbacks.
