Notre Dame's top recruit isn't lacking in speed or confidence. Cierre Wood took part in the Top Gun Showcase Camp and the quote in the headline was one of many about Wood's performance.
Here's another:
"Wood looks like he was shot out of a cannon."
Wood plays for a small school against suspect competition; regardless, his numbers are just silly at 14.7 yards per carry and 50-plus yards a kickoff return.
Top Gun running back coach Lorenzo White (Michigan State) added:
"Cierre is a good kid and he's strong. He's got some great feet and some explosion. He also has some great hands and many skills. Cierre Wood has a bright future."
I keep saying that ND fans just aren't excited enough about the commitment of Wood, Notre Dame's best running back recruit in over a decade. Much like Michael Floyd and Jimmy Clausen, Wood has the ability to be a game changer.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with this writer. You can't look at the stats to see if a kid is any good. For example: Cierre Wood is on a team ranked #1 in the state playing against team #100. There won't be any fight. He'll obviously get about 2,000 yards per game.
As for Wood being a game changer? Maybe in a few years, but I don't think so this year. If you'll remember people were saying the same thing about Clausen and the other part of the pack. You can't just instantly become good coming onto a college field from a high school field. It takes time for a player to get used to the speed of the game and learn the playbook. As Darius Walker said, (2005 interview I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) "Charlie Weis's offensive playbook is...as thick as the Atlanta phone directory." The only player who has probably defied what I have just stated is probably Florida's Quarterback, Tim Tebow.

We'll just have to wait. No one knows for sure how a recruit will be.

Wood's biggest obstacle is the fact that coming into his freshman year, he's behind four VERY good running backs. Can someone say "Red-Shirt?"
