The Diamondbacks beat the Cubs 2-0 behind another win for Randy Johnson against the Cubs for his career he is 13-0 pretty remarkable record for one pitcher against one team.
The Diamondbacks got on the board in the bottom of the sixth as Rich Harden gave up the first hit that being a home run to Alex Romero which was his first of his career. The D-Backs then scored in the bottom of the eighth when Stephen Drew tripled which drove in Chris Snyder.
Both the Cubs and D-Backs had two hits a piece on the night, the Cubs had an opportunity in the top of the ninth with a runner but Derrek Lee grounded into a double play then Aramis Ramirez grounded out to end the game.
Rich Harden pitched great going seven innings for the Cubs allowing just one earned run on one hit while striking out ten and walking two. Unfortunately the Cubs could not score and Harden suffered his first loss since joining the Cubs.
Randy Johnson was on his game as he pitched seven innings also allowing just two hits while striking out four and walking one. With the victory Johnson improved to 7-7 on the season. Chad Qualls worked the ninth and picked up his second save of the season.
With the loss the Cubs' record now sits at 58-41 and they now only have a two game lead on both the Cardinals and Brewers.
Today the Cubs will send Jason Marquis to the mound who is 6-5 with a 4.44 era as Yusmeiro Petit who is 0-1 with a 3.06 era goes for the D-Backs. Game time is set for 8:40 pm ct.
