About retiring athletes... these guys are competitors, winners and take charge kind of individuals. Leaving something you have done since you were a growing child has to be a tough thing to do, unless you have a career ending injury or just completely lose it, a la John Elway.
He admitted he just couldn't play at the same level anymore. That was the main reason he didn't try for a third Super Bowl win.
Is Brett Favre living in an illusion? Probably. Does he have the right to never give up? Heck, that's what turned fans on about him in the first place, who are we to tell him he has to quit NOW?
This man is a warrior... He will never give up until he believes he can't do it anymore and people, them's the FACTS.
Stud athletes are given the choice because of what they were, and if some team out there wants to take a risk, then heck guys, more power to him.
The least we as fans can do accept it. If that's what he wants to do, then so be it.
I'm a big Raider fan, and Favre has caused us more pain than we have caused him. Yet, I see a guy like Brett as a player that I would have loved to see in silver and black.
That is NOT just because he's "Brett Favre," but because I would love to see any player who is at the top of his game in a Raider uniform.
Favre deserves our total backing simply because "He's Earned It!"
