Baylor-Centenary Preview: Bears Prepare for Washington State

IconThe Baylor basketball team is off to a great start in '07-'08.

After a 10-point loss in an exhibition game against Tarleton State at the beginning of November, Scott Drew's squad has compiled a 4-0 record—including victories over Wichita State, Notre Dame, and Winthrop to win the 2007 Paradise Jam tournament in the Virgin Islands.

Now the Bears come home to host the 3-2 Centenary Gentlemen in the Ferrell Center—in preparation for the No. 9 Washington State Cougars, who travel to Waco at the end of the month.

With junior guard Curtis Jerrells posting 16 points and six assists per game, there's no reason Baylor shouldn't go into the Washington State game with a 5-0 record.

While star senior and Australian national team member Aaron Bruce has yet to produce much, the latest member of Baylor's 1,000-point club has gone 7-14 from behind the arc while showing discernible improvement in every game.

Even the Baylor freshmen are looking like perfect fits in Drew's lineup. LaceDarius Dunn, Louisiana's reigning Player of the Year, has averaged 11 points and five rebounds per game in his short stint in the Green and Gold.

Look for Baylor to keep the undefeated streak alive as they host the Centenary Gentlemen Saturday night at 7 PM CST.
