Ron Honaday's Riding Momentum Heading To Texas

Ron Hornaday Jr. and his No. 33 Longhorn team head to Texas for Friday night's WinStar World Casino 400 riding a wave of momentum, having collected four top-three finishes in the last five races.

Clearly, Horn is one of the favorites. He and Brendan Gaughan are the only two back-to-back winners at Texas, but Gaughan won four races in a row, and Horn just swept both races in 2008.

According to Loop Data Statistics, Horn currently holds leads in quality passes (180), percentage of quality passes (88.7 percent), number of fastest laps (229), and the most laps lead over the last four races (443).

Horn's poised to pick up his first win in 2010, end his 18 race win less streak and collected one more win for his sponsor Longhorn Moist Snuff.

He and his No. 33 team also were the top team on 1.5 mile tracks last season and in the top three this season.

Horn will be racing chassis No. 040 at Texas Motor Speedway, but in its last outing, it ran most of the race top five and suffered vapor lock problems while finishing 12th.

"I'm really excited to head back to Texas. We have run really well there in the past. I think we have a good set-up and will run well," said Horn.

He should have a wicked fast Chevrolet, qualify on the pole, and with a good truck late in the racem, he should out-duel Bodine for the win.

It's a track were Horn could pick up some points and positions in the driver point standings. We could see him opted for the best possible finish—if his truck isn't good in the closing laps and just thinks big picture.
