Every year a variety of players suffer season-altering injuries. Some miss more than half the season through a variety of injuries, while others end up being dropped onto the injured reserve list.

Either way, the best of them try to have big seasons after such disappointments. This year will have its fair share of marquee players rebounding from injuries and ailments to remind everyone why they were top talents in the first place.

Anthony Gonzalez, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Gonzalez was set to be the No. 2 to star wideout Reggie Wayne. However, a Week One injury to his right knee caused him to miss the entire season.

Since he won't have too much pressure on him with Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon in the wings, Gonzalez will be given the needed time to become a big part of the offense once again.

Ronnie Brown, RB, Miami Dolphins

After losing the last games of the 2009 season to a right foot injury, Brown is looking to hit the ground running and prove himself the top option in the powerful Miami rushing assault.

Troy Polamalu, S, Pittsburgh Steelers

A wild smattering of injuries kept Polamalu off the field for roughly half the season. This year, if he can stay uninjured, he should provide a centerpiece to allow the Steelers defense to return to prominence.

A healthy Polamalu is a major difference-maker for Pittsburgh, who struggled greatly without his presence.

Jamal Williams, DT, Denver Broncos

The behemoth in the middle was lost for the vast majority of last season when San Diego placed Williams on IR with a triceps injury in September.

Now on a new team, with a full year to prepare for regular season warfare, Williams should have a big season.

Wes Welker, WR, New England Patriots

While Randy Moss is the touchdown machine in the New England offense, it is Wes Welker's supreme route running in the slot that makes the magic possible.

After knee and shoulder injuries ended his season, Welker is looking to rebound and post big numbers again. The Pats are hoping he will make a swift recovery.
