Whenever someone is in a position like Dana White's, there will be many successes and sometimes there will be failures. If this interview with James Toney is any sign of the future, Toney may prove to be the biggest mistake in the career of the UFC President.

Toney will make his MMA debut against UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture on August 18 at UFC 118 in Boston.

Most don't give Toney a chance against Couture, but those who do figure the only way to victory for "Lights Out" is a knockout. However, the former boxer sees it playing out differently.

"I'm going to choke Randy Couture out," Toney said in a video interview with Uppercut Magazine. "Watch what I'm telling you! I'm going to shock a whole lot of people in this fight."

I would pull more quotes from the interview, but honestly, it's hard to make out anything Toney is saying. He is so incoherent I'm not even sure how any athletic commission even allows him to fight. To say that he's facing a future with brain damage is an understatement.

The whole interview would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad to see how a career of boxing will negatively lower the quality of life for Toney for the rest of his life. White must know that Toney is in no shape (mentally or physically) to fight. The bout has already been changed to a heavyweight bout because of Toney's inability to cut weight and make the light-heavyweight weight maximum of 205 pounds.

Undoubtedly Toney possesses great cross-over appeal, and his UFC debut will draw a ton of interest from the boxing community. Even with the unpredictability of MMA, I don't see any way in which the night of August 18 will end well for Toney.

Judge for yourself in the interview.
