The Phoenix Coyotes have a problem.
No, I am not talking about their dismal season.
I am talking about a goaltending problem—and not the usual lack thereof!
After claiming Bryzgalov off waivers this week, the Coyotes found themselves with five netminders and just four spots on the roster—so David Aebischer became expendable.
Unfortunately, nobody in the NHL was in need of a has-been goaltender, so the Coyotes set their sights overseas—specifically to the Swiss Elite League, most likely at Aebischer's request.
HC Lugano was interested in his services (as I'm sure many other teams were) and a loan agreement was reached, wherein Aebischer will play the remainder of this year for the Swiss club, who will in turn picking up the tab for Aesbicher's remaining contract.
This is probably the best situation for both Aebischer and the Coyotes. Aebischer will most likely become HC Lugano's number-one goalie, and the Coyotes were able to dump his salary.
Side Note: Contrary to previous predictions, Alex Auld has been sent down the the AHL and not Tellqvist.
