The Arizona Diamondbacks just acquired RHP Jon Rauch from the Washington Nationals to help shore up their bullpen. In return, the D-Backs sent 2B Emilio Bonifacio to DC.

Rauch, 29, was having a career year for the Nats this season. He went 4-2 to go along with a career best 2.98 and 17 saves.

He has proven himself in the closer's role this season. Since taking over for the injured Chad Cordero on April 29th, he has converted 13 of 16 save opportunities and has posted a 1.93 ERA.

With injuries mounting on a struggling pen, Rauch should immediately have an impact late in games.

Rauch is signed through 2009 with a team option for the 2010 season that must be decided on at the end of this season.

Emilio Bonifacio is a 23-year-old infielder who has only played 19 games in the majors in his career. He is a career .283 hitter in the minors. Bonifacio's biggest asset is his blazing speed. He has swiped 229 bases in the minor leagues, good for a 78% clip.
