Moving Today's Market

The battle in the National League East begins tonight in New York when the Mets and Phillies open a three-game series. The winner of the series will claim the lead in the division. Johan Santana (8-7, 3.10 ERA) will start for the Mets and Joe Blanton (5-12, 4.96 ERA) makes his debut with the Phillies. Blanton hasn't pitched since July 9th so he is well rested to take on a Mets team that he has pitched well against. In his last two previous starts against New York, Blanton threw 15 shutout innings. Santana starts in place of Pedro Martinez after Martinez was scratched from his scheduled start because of a groin injury. Santana has pitched twice this season against the Phillies and is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA. Pinnacle opened favoring the Mets at -184 but has since decreased to -163, but yet over 60 percent of the money is on the Mets. Another game getting attention is the Athletics against the Rays. The CRIS line opened at -170 for the Rays but has since moved to -156. Smart money was triggered by Skybook as the line went from -160 to -150. Andy Sonnanstine (10-4, 4.58 ERA) will take the mound for the Rays and Dallas Braden (1-0, 4.80 ERA) will make his first start for the Athletics this season after replacing Blanton in the starting rotation. The Rays are 14-5 in games Sonnanstine has started this season.
