Kid's Column: Miracles Happen When The Lions Come To Play

Marivi Howell-ArzaCorrespondent IMay 31, 2010

Saturday's game was a good one. At first I was worried I would have nothing to write about until...

Someone scored  !

Kosovare Asllani, the Swiss firecracker also came extremely close to scoring another goal within 5 minutes of scoring her first. I am proud to say that her birthday is the day after mine, and we are both Leos. Go lions! Of course I mean our zodiac symbol, not the pride of almost undefeated lions that came to Toyota Park and lost. ;)

Even though she was injured soon after (not too badly, but enough to take her out of the game), she was voted player of the game.

After the game, she appeared at the press conference. She expressed her pride in the team. (I'm convinced the reason we won was because we had a better coach who showed them how to play their strengths.) She said: "In my opinion, we have the best team. We're supposed to be on the top, and we started tonight."

I strongly agree with her. Thanks to my lion friend, the final score was 1-0.

I look forward to singing the national anthem on July 7th. If we win that day, I will truly feel very special. :)
