The Next In Line in the WWE: Contenders to Take John Cena's Throne
Since 2005, John Cena has been the name and face of the WWE. He's held the WWE Championship seven times, World Heavyweight Championship two times, he's a Royal Rumble winner, three time U.S. Champion and a two time Tag Team Champion.
Cena has beaten future hall of famers and is considered to be a hall of famer himself. He's sold merchandise, starred in movies, made the cover of magazines, kissed babies and fat chicks. While this is great, Cena's reign at the top won't last forever. I'll go over some candidates that have a chance at being the next face of the company.
John Morrison has all the tangibles to become the new face of the WWE. He has the look, the charisma and the wrestling ability. Morrison is already a multi-time tag team champion, an ECW champion and a multi-time Intercontinental champion.
Morrison has wowed people for years and his finisher, starship pain, is one of the best in the WWE. All Morrison needs is a good feud with an established main-eventer and world championship gold.
Jack Swagger is perceived to be the second coming of Kurt Angle. He's cocky, brash and he has a great amateur wrestling background. He's also a two time All-American American.
Swagger is currently the reigning world heavyweight champion and looks poised to win more championship gold in the future. The right feud and the right gimmick could elevate Swagger to the top.
The Miz has one of the best mouth pieces in the WWE. His catchphrase can become like The Rock's numerous catchphrases if he turns face. His wrestling has become better and he looks to be poised for a world championship run in the near future.
Ted DiBiase Jr.
Ted DiBiase is seen as the next Randy Orton. He has the arrogance that Randy had and he also has a virgil to help him out, similar to Randy having his father with his feud against Taker.
DiBiase certainly has the look and the gimmick but he lacks a feud worth watching. He also needs to have his own career path and not follow his father's nor Randy Orton's.
Randy Orton currently has the best chance to take Cena's throne. He's already a proven star and the fans are showing that he can, and maybe even will, take Cena's spot.
Randy is a six time world champion and may become a seven time champion next month. Since Legacy broke up, Randy has been receiving more pops; some that are bigger than Cena's. He's been compared and seen as the next Stone Cold. The RKO and The Stone Cold Stunner both send fans in a frenzy when hit. Could Orton be the next name and face of the company? Only time will tell.
