Giants Better Off Without Shockey

Clayton CoffmanAnalyst IJuly 22, 2008

The New York Giants' trade of Jeremy Shockey, while many are divided on the decision, was a fine move.

Shockey was a constant head case that was easily pushed over the top. He's a quality pass-catching tight end, but so is Kevin Boss.

The Giants proved last year that, while they're a good team with him, they're a good team without him.

On the flip-side, the Saints' acquisition of Shockey might further expand Sean Payton's complex offense. After last year's disappointing season, the Saints added another weapon to push the likes of Dallas and Green Bay for the NFC crown.
