Fantasy Baseball Week Nine Start/Sit

This could finally be the week where Fantasy Baseball is changed forever. The arrival of the pitching prodigy Stephen Strasburg could very well be at hand, and it's time for fantasy owners to begin reaping the benefits. Opponents beware—the youngster is on his way to the pros. It's time to play ball.

 

Starting Pitcher to Start

For a team that I believed would fail miserably in 2010, the Toronto Blue Jays have pleasantly surprised me with a fantastic start to the season. Although every member of the squad receives credit for his current achievements, one man stands out in both the real and fantasy worlds. That man is starting pitcher Shaun Marcum

Marcum, who is 4-1 this season with a 2.82 ERA and 53 Ks, has led the team from his spot in the rotation, and there does not appear to be much to slow him down in his current warpath. His latest victory was his third in a row (with a potential fourth coming against the lowly O’s on Saturday).

Want more to convince you to start him? Over his last 35 starts, he has accumulated a 3.22 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. Need I say more?

To put it simply, start him in Week Nine. Until the Blue Jays discover who they truly are (if they ever do), Marcum will be an ace in the fantasy world as the season continues to steamroll to the All-Star Game...
