The 2010 Georgia Bulldog Football season is as much a mystery season as in recent history. With the additions of a new Quarterback, defensive staff, and completely different defensive scheme, many Dawg fans are wondering, what will become of the Dawgs this season?
I myself am very optimistic, just as I always am, but that could change in week two if Spurrier decides to "Cock n' Fire" for 500 yards, and demoralize the new defensive regime.
This is a game by game break down of Georgia's 2010 schedule, for those of you who aren't Dawg fans I don't really believe that we will finished undefeated, but I simply don't have the heart to pick one of these teams to beat my beloved Georgia Bulldogs. Enjoy.
September 4th- Louisiana Lafayette
The debut of the new defensive scheme, but don't expect to see much here. Much like the G-day Game, Todd Grantham will choose not to expose too much of the new scheme. Look For the defense to put together a solid effort against the Ragin Cajuns. Also, Aaron Murray will get his first look at true opposition as a collegiate football player.
Prediction: Georgia jumps out quick and rest the starters for Columbia. 45-10.
September 11- South Carolina
Okay first things first, I really wish I could find the security guys from last years game to watch this one with, so if you are out there in Bleacher land guys... hit me up.
Now down to business. This is one of my favorite games of the season. Being from South Carolina myself, this has that in-state rival feel for me. Always a struggle, the Gamecocks are poised to have there best season yet under Spurrier, but like I said I am from South Carolina, so I hear that every year.
This will be the first true test for Aaron Murray, and the new scheme on defense. Williams-Brice will be rocking, and Murray will have to grow up really quick if he hopes to make it out of this one alive.
Prediction: Murray manages a close game, but the real stars will be on the defensive side of the ball. The Cocks are at a bit of a disadvantage, being the first team to face Grantham's new attack in full effect. Final score 14-9.
September 18- Arkansas
On this day, we will find out the fortitude of Grantham and the defense. Facing the biggest quarterback in the South since Jared Lorenzen, this will be a huge test for the defense. On the other hand, the Dawgs should have no problem scoring on the Hogs either.
Prediction: Murray, Ealey, and King torch the Hogs for big yards and points, while the defense bends but does not break. Final Score 42-20.
September 25- Mississippi State
This one scares me personally, and if you think I am crazy, ask the Florida and LSU teams of last season. As if the SEC needs any more true competitors, Dan Mullen may be first coach to achieve major success in Starkville in sometime. However, I think it will be tougher for State to sneak up on teams as they did last year.
Prediction: State keeps it close at home, but too much offense helps Georgia get a way with a big road win. Final Score 27-17
October 2- Colorado
Really looking forward to this one. Folsom Field is one of the coolest venues in College Football in my opinion. Unfortunately for the Buffs, thats about as far as the luster goes in Colorado. This is one of the games that a lot of Dawg fans are sweating over, I am not one of those fans.
Prediction: Dawgs put together their best all around team effort to date, and start making some serious buzz around the nation. Final Score 35-10
October 9- Tennessee
"Revenge." The Dawgs were punished last year in Knoxville. I believe that this is one that Coach Richt, and the fellas have had circled for some time now. I for one look forward to seeing the first meeting between Bacarri Rambo and Da'Rick Rogers since their twitter battle this summer.
Prediction: A personal foul clad game that may turn ugly, turns pretty for the Dawgs in the end. Tennessee struggles to score, and the Dawgs win 24-7.
October 16- Vanderbilt
October 16- Vanderbilt
With Vanderbilt's most promising returning attack being a kick-returner, things may be a struggle for the Commodores this season. This game in Athens will be no different. If the Dawgs can prevent the early momentum starting with kick returns, this should be a fairly easy win.
Prediction: Dawgs win 34-7
October 23- Kentucky
I would like to think that the Dawgs were looking for Wildcat blood after what happened in Athens last season, but am afraid Kentucky may catch us looking forward to the Coctail Party. Still I don't think the Cats will have enough to pull away a win, but look for this one to be a little closer than it should.
Prediction: 21-17, Dawgs win.
October 30- Florida
GEORGIA WILL BEAT FLORIDA THIS YEAR.
Prediction: 38-24
November 6- Idaho State
Idaho State, man are we glad to see you. The Bengals will be just what the doctor ordered after a big win, and Coctail Party hangover. Dawgs will take the lead quick, and start preparing for the War Tig...Eag...Tigers? Whatever.
Prediction: Dawgs try to stay healthy and win big 42-10
November 13- Auburn
This is the scariest game on the schedule, in my opinion. Auburn is on the way up, and they owe us one. They haven't won since 2005, which is unheard of in this rivalry, but like I said, I cannot pick a team to beat my Bulldogs. Look to see if Auburn can stop the run, if they can beat the Dawgs up front...this may be a tough day.
Bold Prediction: Dawgs pull it out on the road, and Toomer's Corner is toilet paper free. 27-24
November 27- Georgia Tech
Nerds get their hopes again, Dawgs prove that they run the state again. A much needed off week helps the Dawgs rest up, and gives Grantham plenty of time to scheme against Johnson's offense.
Prediction: Dawgs stuff the Jackets rushing attack and win 35-17
