This is one of the more confusing teams. The actual mascot of the Tigers is a man costumed as a Tiger, but is much less known than the eagle that soars onto the field before every home game. The eagle, named War Eagle VII, has been a tradition since 1892.
Colorado has perhaps the most dramatic presentation of their mascot. Before every game, four handlers semi-control Ralphie the Buffalo as he leads the team onto the field. Back in 1989, Ralphie made his first out-of-state trip when the team visited the Georgia Bulldogs.
Uga VI may be the most recognized mascot in college football, but he recently passed away. Uga VII will take his place for the 2008 season. Georgia has always had an English bulldog as their mascot except their first UGA, which was a goat. Fans love the Uga so much they lay flowers on the grave of past Uga's before every home game. Talk about dedication—or obsession.
Who did I miss? Should one mascot be ranked higher than another? Is one too high on my list? Let me know below!
