Moving Today's Market

Despite it being a Monday there is a full slate of baseball action. Rich Harden makes his second start for the Cubs as they open a three-game series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks.

In his team debut on July 12, Harden struck out 10 and threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings. The CRIS line opened at -133 for the Cubs and other books, monitored by Sports Insights, have stayed around that number despite the Diamondbacks countering with future Hall-of-Famer Randy Johdnson.

Another game getting some early attention is the Red Sox against the Mariners. The Red Sox have lost 10 of the last 12 road games after being swept by the Angels Sunday night.

Jon Lester (7-3, 3.38 ERA) will try to end the losing skid as he faces Jarrod Washburn (4-8, 4.83 ERA). Washburn's start was pushed back by two days because he was battling flu-like symptoms. The southpaw has allowed two runs or less in seven of his last nine last starts but has lacked run support.

The Mariners are averaging 3.6 runs/game during that span. The CRIS line opened with the Red Sox favored by -137 but has since moved to -153. Matchbook is coming in with the best odds at -138 for the books monitored by Sports Insights, and over 80 percent of the money is supporting Boston.
