Hight Wins 3 In A Row, Schumacher,Edwards Win NHRA Nationals In Topeka

The NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts Summer Nationals from Heartland Park in Topeka is over and Robert Hight has won three races in a row as he defeated Jeff Arend in the final round on Sunday. Hight scored victories at St Louis and Atlanta and made it three with the win at Topeka. Arend made it to the final round defeating Jim Head who has a big explosion at half track, he was ok, the car not so much. Robert Hight in the AAA Auto Club Ford Mustang for John Force Racing went to the final round defeating Ron Capps in the semi-finals. Hight defeated Arend running a 4.104 at 303.50 mph to a losing 4.150 at 300.80 in a great race to the line. Hight moves into second in points behind John Force.

Tony Schumacher defeated Larry Dixon on his way to the final round, as Cory McClenathan took the win when Brandon Bernstein went red again in the semi-finals. Schumacher defeated McClenathan in the final round running a 3.875 310.27 to a 3.864 312.35 mph to get the hole shot win and take the US Army car dragster to victory lane. Larry Dixon remains atop the Top Fuel standings over McClenathan.

Mike Edwards got back on track Sunday after trouble in Atlanta and St Louis, Edwards faced off against Allen Johnson and won on a hole shot. Edwards ran a 6.717 at 204.63 mph to Johnson's 6.710 at 205.19 mph and put the Penhall/K&N/Interstate Batteries GXP in victory lane for his fifth win of the 2010 season and extend a already huge point lead.

The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series is off for Memorial Day weekend but returns in two weeks at Chicago and the Route 66 Nationals.
