Cheerleaders are a misunderstood group, often stereotyped as being bubbly, pretty and dumb.
True, the women on this list are beautiful but they have also shown they’re perfectly capable of doing other things besides cheer. Their talents include acting, dancing, singing and even wrestling.
Here are 10 female celebrities that have proven that there’s nothing to be ashamed about their cheerleading past.
10. Melissa Rycroft
I can only imagine what she felt when her "The Bachelor" fiancé Jason Meznick pulled a complete 180 and dumped her on national television for the other girl, Molly Malaney.
It must have been like winning the NBA Finals with a last second shot, basking in the glory for a few days...then David Stern calling a live press conference to announce that he’s giving Larry O’Brien to the other team because new footage shows that time had expired before the ball was released.
This all happening AFTER you’ve already started planning the victory parade. But stuff like that would never happen in the NBA.
Right, Mr. Stern?
Before that heartbreaking made-for-TV moment, she was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
Her dance moves took her all the way to the finale of Dancing with the Stars.
9. Blake Lively
Known by many as Serena van der Woodsen on television's Gossip Girl.
She was the ASB President, a member of the show choir and a cheerleader for Burbank High School.
Rumor has it that she passed on Stanford so she could pursue an acting career.
After seeing her photo on every other magazine cover at the supermarket, I must say the risk seems to be paying off. Does anyone who’s looking at this picture wish she stayed in college?
8. Stacy Keibler
Stacy Keibler is a former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader, Dancing with the Stars finalist and WWE star. She certainly knows her way on the football field, the dance floor as well as the wrestling ring.
With lethal legs that are rumored to go up all the way to her neck, no one else on this list is capable of using them to take out the likes of Jack Bauer and Chuck Norris with a corner foot choke.
7. Arielle Kebbel
Another former high school cheerleader with brains to match her booty. I mean beauty.
So what if she graduated school a semester early with a 4.3 GPA. I’m sure she’s already realized by now that you don’t need good grades to be casted for roles on television and movies.
Most recently she's been on CW's Vampire Diaries and the movie thriller The Uninvited.
Only 25-years-old, this girl is an up-and-comer. I bet we’ll see more of her in the future.
6. Ali Landry
From high school cheer captain, to Miss Louisiana Teen USA and Miss USA, she’s no stranger to the limelight.
It was her back-to-back appearances as the Doritos girl in Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII that propelled her to nationwide fame.
With an impressive two Super Bowl appearances in her career–she’s already outdone most NFL pros.
Here’s a clip of her Super Bowl XXXIII ad:
5. Teri Hatcher
Can you believe it’s been 25 years since she put on her cheerleading outfit for the San Francisco 49ers?
When she’s not cheering for the Lakers at the STAPLES Center, she’s still causing a stir as a Desperate Housewife on television’s Wisteria Lane. Check out the pole dancing episode.
At 45, she’s still very, very flexible.
4. Eva Longoria Parker
This former high school cheerleader went on to marry a jock, star point guard Tony Parker.
At Spurs games, TV cameras always find a reason to show her sitting in the stands. I wonder why.
Imagine if she and fellow Desperate Housewives co-star and Lakers fan Teri Hatcher had a pole dancing face-off at halftime of a Spurs vs. Lakers contest.
Ratings galore for the ABC-ESPN-NBA trio.
3. Moon Bloodgood
We’ve all heard the story of Paula Abdul being the most famous and successful Laker Girl ever.
But Moon Bloodgood is making a case to be the second most popular Laker Girl in history.
You remember her as pilot Blair Williams from Terminator Salvation.
Word is she can also sing. If she actually pursued a singing career, then she might be able to give Paula a run for her money.
Put this photo on the cover of the album, she’ll go platinum in no time.
2. Megan Fox
Before gaining nationwide fame playing the lead role of Mikaela Banes on the Transformers motion picture, Megan Fox was a former Eagles cheerleader.
No, not the Philadelphia Eagles but Morningside Academy Upper School Eagles in Florida.
I guess it wasn’t too much of a stretch when she was also cast to play the role of an evil cheerleader who preys on young men in Jennifer’s Body.
What a great excuse to get her to wear a cheerleading outfit again.
1. Sarah Shahi
If there’s anything that I’ve learned from compiling this list, it’s this: L.A. and Dallas are breeding grounds for extremely hot and very talented cheerleaders.
Not only was Sarah Shahi a cheerleader for the Cowboys, she has also played a lesbian on Showtime's The L Word.
Plus, she admits to actually “dabbling” in the lesbian experience.
So guys dig her and girls do too. That vaults her to No. 1 on this list!
