Manchester United are ready to make a sensational bid to sign Real Madrid and Spain right back Sergio Ramos.

The Old Trafford outfit are keen to make the Spaniard their first summer signing, after reports in Spain revealed that Madrid's potential gaffer Jose Mourinho would part company with the 24-year-old were he to take the reins at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mourinho is understood to be adamant on signing Brazilian right back Maicon from his current side, Inter Milan, if he leaves the San Siro club for Real in the summer, and Ramos does not fit into The Special One's plans.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is a longtime admirer of Ramos, and with news coming out of both Italy and Spain about the player's impending exit from Madrid, the Red Devils are gearing up for a multimillion pound bid.

The exact monetary figure is not yet known, but it is thought that any bid north of £25 million would secure the talented defender's signature.

Meanwhile, United are also rivaling Arsenal for the services of France International midfielder Jeremy Toulalan, who currently plays for Olympique Lyonnais in his homeland.
