With a statement made by an Arizona state senator to repeal the fourteenth amendment in Arizona, will Bud Selig finally understand this is not going away.

Here is part of a published report on Lifejournal.com:

reporting that the state Senator behind Arizona’s new immigration law, Russell Pierce (R), does not intend on stopping at SB-1070. In e-mails obtained by CBS 5, Pearce said he intends to push for an “anchor baby” bill that would essentially overturn the 14th amendment by no longer granting citizenship to the children of undocumented immigrants born on U.S. soil. “Anchor babies” is a derogatory and “politically charged” term used to refer to the U.S. citizen children of undocumented parents.” end quote.

The impact on minorities in Arizona by the present and incoming laws, (legal or not) are beyond my understanding.

I’m sure there are good and bad points to be made in both sides.

But are the Arizona policies the best way to solve the problem?

I guess the answer would depend on which side of the fence your in ( no pun intended)

How long will Major League Baseball keep their mouth shut on this subject?

How long will it be before Bud Selig feels embarrassed when he talks to a Latino player or a black player or the women who make a living in MLB.

Yes, those are all minorities who may feel offended by this type of policy that will keep on coming as long as folks with economic power like MLB don’t take a stand.

As a Hispanic I can tell you from personal experience (to this day) I deal with mean spirited folks everyday, I’m talking about folks who use the traditional racial slur in a regular basis.

As I gotten older I’ve learned to just take a positive spin on all that racist language, I at least know who those folks are and I’ve learned not to expect anything from them.

I did catch an old manager of mine after having a heated conversation with a black man say ..“typical F… N….” ..you fill in the dots, when he turned around and seen me the only thing he could come up with is “ ..well .I’m not prejudice or anything ” I said, I understand, then I became the hypocrite, I acted like I liked him for many years after.

Shame on me.

Why did I tell you that story?

I wanted you to know I’m not writing this out some kind of “race card playing” this is part of everyday living for many minorities, real stuff that many folks have to put up with in their daily lives, this is not fiction folks, is for real.

Can this laws be fairly enforced?

My personal experience tells me it will be hard to keep tabs on the closet bigot as he or her determines what “reasonable suspicion” means , we can all agree that “reasonable suspicion” is like beauty, “in the eyes of the beholder”

If folks who are natural born Americans who look like a Mexican because that’s their heritage feel uncomfortable proving they belong here every time they get stopped for J-walking , well then, I do understand why they are so against the Arizona policies.

This policy just becomes one more thing brown folks have to worry about, I know this language may be offensive to some but it is the truth and it is what it is.

Look everybody knows there is a problem with illegal immigration, something needs to be done sooner rather than later.

I would venture to guess there are many folks behind the scenes fuelling all this hate who have a different agenda than just illegal immigration, they just found a vehicle they can ride to spread their hate massage.

I’m also sure there are many folks who are trying to do the fair thing in Arizona.

I guess the problem with most Hispanics is on how this issue is being dealt with.

Everybody needs to sit down and find a solution that’s fair for everyone.

Can we agree on that ?

Still Bud Selig as the ultimate spokesman for MLB needs to take a stand.

Is simple.

Yes or no Mr. Selig , Si o No Sr. Silig.

It is really that simple sir, it really is….

As always I’m just a fan with an opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I thank God for that.

Enough said.
