Who is the best active coach in College Basketball? Will it be Coach K and his national Championships? Will it be Bill Self and his remarkable accomplishments? Maybe John Calipari or even Brad Stevens. Bob Huggins anyone? Or even a little Jim Boeheim. How do you even determine the best coach in College Basketball?
No. 10: Bruce Pearl
Bruce Pearl led the the Vols to the Elite 8 where they lost to a superior Michigan State squad. Pearl outcoached everyone until Tom Izzo's Spartans. Still, Pearl did a great job leading his team this year.
No. 9: Frank Martin
I have never seen a more livid coach in all my life. He is so intense on the sidelines. I don't want to play for him when i go to college. Still he made K-State work. (i cannot imagine what one of his practices would be like.)
No. 8: Jim Calhoun
Jim Calhoun is a great coach. Period. End of story. He won a couple titles back with Emeka Okafor as his star. He is encountering health problems now, and when he left this year it was a huge blow to UConn
No. 7: Jim Boeheim
Another Jim. This one coaches Syracuse. He had a little more success this year then Calhoun, but by all accounts he should be behind Calhoun. At this point however, I would rather have Boeheim based on he sole fact that he is not about to die or have a heart attack. He is a good coach who has put together a very respectable resume.
No. 6: Bob Huggins
I really like Bob Huggins. He may be my second favorite coach. I didn't know where to put him on this list, and in my opinion this is where he should be. He was in the Final Four last year and has a good shot at getting there next year. I may be wrong, but i think he led West Virginia to the Big East championship—which they won. That says a little something about Huggy Bear.
No. 5: Brad Stevens
WHERE DID THIS GUY COME FROM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had never heard his name until this year when he almost out-dueled Coach K. He looks like he is in college with the players, still getting like a law degree or something.
No. 4: John Calipari
John Calipari is my least favorite coach on this list, but wherever he goes he wins, so he must be doing something right. I despise him and I almost left him off the list because he managed to lose with arguably the best team in the tournament. He just couldn't energize his rookies.
No. 3: Bill Self
This picture was taken during his loss to umm who was it again? Oh ya Northern Iowa. LOL. I guess his screaming didn't help anything.
All kidding aside, Bill Self is an elite coach. And in my opinion, the third best coach in the league.
No. 2: Mike Krzyzewski
Coach K is the number one coach in America. Oh wait, this is number two. Ok, Coach K is the number two coach in America. He has numerous championships and numerous Final Fours. One coach has just a little more March Magic then him. Can anyone guess?
Honorable Mention: Roy Williams
I just could not put him on this list after this past year. IT WAS HORRIBLE. He is a great coach but he sure didn't show anything this year. If this was made last year, he would have been Top Three.
No. 1: Tom (March Madness) Izzo
Tom Izzo is one of the greatest coaches of all time. He has been to the Final Four six times in the last 12 years. Now that is more than any other school INCLUDING DUKE. Even if his star players get hurt, he still gets the job done. He was so close to beating Butler, but somehow they pulled it out. Next year with a healthy Kalin Lucas and a hot Durrell Summers, Izzo will make it 7 Final Fours in 13 years and get his Second Championship. I am probably biased, but that is what i believe.
