Illinois Assistant Chooses Illinois Over Kentucky

Jonah PulsCorrespondent IMay 21, 2010

Illinois men's basketball assistant head coach Jerrance Howard will be staying at Illinois for at least the next couple years.

There was a question whether Howard would be at Illinois next year after he reportedly received an offer from Kentucky to join their staff.

After about a week of speculation, Howard announced this week that he would resume his job as an assistant coach at Illinois.

This is huge for the Illini because Howard is known for his superb recruiting in the Chicago area—helping Illinois bring in a top-25 ranked recruiting class for next year.

Not long after Howard stated that he will be staying at Illinois, it was announced that the three-year coach will be receiving a new contract, in which he will acquire a raise.

No details involved in the new contract have been finalized yet.
