Jets Kicking Game Is "Risky Business"

Pro Football NYCSenior Writer IMay 21, 2010

Jets Coach Rex Ryan was not happy with his two kickers yesterday, jokingly sloughing off the inept performance of newcomers Nick Folk and Clint Stitser.

"If you didn't notice we had our guys kicking with the other foot today. That's why they were missing,"  Ryan said, to open his press conference yesterday at the Jets' facility in Florham Park.

"That was ugly, a little bit concerning ...I told those guys...Now, I'm not the sharpest guy, but if the first nine kicks all went right of the upright, I think you might want to adjust a little bit.  I might have to miss left before I miss another one right. So I tried to explain that to 'em. I think Nick made a few, but the other kid never made any ...I don't think he wants to do that.."

Someone actually asked Ryan about the kickers using their other foot to kick..

"I was just kidding, but that's what it seemed like! (Laughter) I thought they were pulling a gag on me, but they weren't."

Ryan then collected himself and assessed the situation more clearly.
