I was just reading some rumours online and saw that the Avalanche are discussing a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Apparently the trade seems to be Marek Svatos and Brett Clark, or even Jordan Leopold for Pavel Kubina.
Another deal that I've heard a lot about is Marek Svatos, Brett Clark a prospect and a draft pick (guessed to be around a 3rd or 4th pick) for Jay Bouwmeester. Apparently the Avalanche are in heavy discussion with the Panthers organization trying to get this done as soon as possible.

I don't know what to think of all this. If the Av's do trade Marek Svatos for Jay Bouwmeester then sure, their defense just went from great to amazing but their offence goes from good to poor.
I like Marek Svatos, but if we can get Jay Bouwmester for him, i think Francois Giguere needs to consider it very carefully and maybe accept the offer.
Although losing Marek Svatos is a huge blow to the Av's offence, it adds a great, promising, franchise defenseman to the organization. Furthermore, if prospects like T.J. Hensick and David Jones truly are NHL ready, that should relieve some pressure from losing Marek Svatos.
I like Marek Svatos, but I think his days in an Avalanche uniform, are numbered.

I dont know if Svatos is as elite as he once was called before.
If anything, if I were you, I would be worried about seeing Wolski go.

he is not as good as he was before, but he could still make an impact on an nhl team. and i agree, lee, wolski cannot go, he is amazing

i doubt the avs will trade wolski for 1 reason. they just signed him to a four year deal. if they were gonna trade him they probably wouldve just traded him and not signed him

Well there are things called sign and trades, but yes I dont tihnk they will trade him either unless something very substantial comes the other way.

I have not heard this report. I like Svatos too, but he is so injury prone. He is also known to be weak defensively. I did hear that he was playing tougher along the boards this past year before he was injured. I am excited about the many prospects that the Avs have in their system. It may be a couple of lean years but if people are patient and wait it out, there will be a great team again. Av fans were spoiled for many years and have never really experienced a rebuilding team, especially during Lacroix days.

I like the idea of Clark + prospect + draft pick. But keep Svatos.
He is one of the three players under used by Q.
Last year, even with everyone injured, he still got the fewest minutes.
His highest minutes were 13:45 in his rookie season, last year it was lower.
Give this guy top 6 minutes and he'll fly, score, hit!
He is too good to pass on. I mean, if it comes down to Bowmy then do it, but I prefer not to. :(
He is so good and underrated, 1/3 of his goals are GWG.
I think given a good season [1st two were shoulder, last year was "S" curse, hell even Salei was injured].
So, please please please, try NOT to trade Svatty.

I think it was a big mistake for the avalanche to re-sign svatos. Contrary to what you guys say i believe he is highly overrated and to injury prone to rely on. I would get rid of him first chance they get.
